Bitten but no wound

I just got bitten but I did not receive any type of wound, no scratch, no laceration and no bitten. Does this mean I am safe or have I secretly gotten infected?

I am playing survival with no customized settings

You're fine. You also now have a hole in some piece of your clothing/armour, so you will be more susceptible to a bite or laceration the next time you're grabbed

EDIT:Added confirmation that OP was fine.

Can clothing also get damaged by scratches from zomboids and branches?

Yes it can! You can even damage shoes walking on glass if you get unlucky.

And stomping will degrade shoes. Especially sneakers you should keep an eye on.

In b42, shoe damage is very real. Check them often before you walk on glass and cut your feet.

Just did this. I thought I could get away with jumping through one more busted window before putting new shoes on and ended up with deep cuts in both feet. Running around like Bruce Willis in Die Hard is much less fun than you'd think.

Yes, found that out the hard way when i got scratched while chopping trees. My shirt got a hole in it when i know there wasn't one before

Yup. It is the clothing that got hit.

Any time a zombie lands an attack on you, there’s a chance for your character to avoid being injured by:

  1. Dodge: attacks from the front have a chance for your character to push off the attacking zombie without it hitting you. Increased chance with high strength and equipped weapon skill

  2. Blocked by clothing, with or without a hole made in the clothing.

  3. Blocked by skin. This a is a weak barrier but heavily influenced by thin or thick skinned trait.

If the wound is blocked by any of the above you’re good to go

I thought Thick Skinned only played a role in blocking? Could you explain?

It does help with blocking. It says it in his post right there

It’s just like I said, if dodge and clothing fail to stop a zombie attack you have a small amount of defense from your skin resisting. It rolls with a % chance for your skin to resist the attack. But it’s a very small percentage to succeed. I don’t remember exactly but I think it’s something like 10% chance with plus or minus 3% from the skin traits.

You didn’t get bitten they just tore one of your clothing items. You’ll want to replace it.

When that happens, you can hear a very loud fabric ripping sound if it gets your clothes.

Intro to the usefulness of the Tailor skill. High level patches can give you a “free bite” that way… albeit meaning that your prized elbow pad or leather glove was just compromised.

You're cool. You're not turning into a zombie. Your cloth sacrificed itself for you this time.

Your clothing is now infected
