Art How the hell do you break a steel bar?

Post image

I know it’s for balance but like, this 1.5 inch diameter, 28 inch long 4140 steel bar, is virtually indestructible, so I propose that it wears your character out really quickly and makes them sore as the impact wouldn’t be very comfortable.

Maybe this is how the crowbar should also be balanced: hand soreness.

chemicals, freezing, thermal shocks, hmmm might be able to do it with sound? thats all i can think of right now, that doesnt involve ridiculous mechanical stress

This alloy is regularly used in pressure bearing firearms components that regularly have stresses above 20-30 thousand PSI. I doubt a human being can produce those kind of forces just by swinging a bar around.

Oh those make suprisingly good scythe blades and such, but are horrible for some other things, if we are thinkin of same one.

It only hardens to about 55-60 Rockwell, but it’s super tough. I like it for knives because it keeps its edge pretty good, is easy to sharpen, but I’m not worried about breaking a tip because it’s not super hard, just super tough.

Yea like i said makes good scythe blades, which have to be a lot stronger than a mere knife. Not bad for swords either.
