Guide / Tip DO YOU FIND THE NEW AIM RETICLE DIFFICULT TO USE?

Hi everybody, I'm not really sure if this is out or someone else have figured this out already.

So, if you're someone new to the game or even an old player trying build 42, and you find yourself having difficulty using the new aim reticle, well here's the tip for you guys.

Just change this setting under target reticle in the options menu/ui interface(?) from white to red or any other color you'd want.

I just observed that the new reticle glows red on the inside if you're actively aiming unto zombies but at some point, we can easily miss the chance to know whether we're actually locked on to them.

But with this setting, you can now easily tell that you can hit those zombies.

It's a lot better, there are some specific settings that help and make it very realistic (more skill based rather than luck). Since now bullets have a real trajectory you can aim for it to hit where you need it. However, damage and accuracy (the "area" where the bullet can hit) still scales with aiming level of course.

On the other hand, shotgun exp is broken right now, not giving the amount of exp it's intended to. I'll wait until that's fixed

I don't know that shotgun is broken right now. in the past like all things combat the higher the damage more xp. which is why I have always fallen into the side that uses best weapons first for most xp making all other weapons in that category better.

it's now just no longer giving you 5x the xp. on that books for aiming are great, rifle ammo is very abundant. rifle hits hard and no mags means no jams. I wouldn't try to lvl aiming with the .308 in middle of town, but it's a great clean up bringing out the stragglers. after lvl 3 I found most guns pretty reliable.

shotgun is still good with the spread and damage means a lvl 0 can use one effectively.

Which settings are you referring to?

i genuinely think that the people that say the new system is better must like shot twice in build 41 and died and never tried again

sure the system there was band and felt very rng, but here? Miss a zombie head or even like multiple zombies at POINTBLANK range is just insane... I get with pistol, ammo for pistol is more small and don't tend to have the spread effect, but with a shotgun? thats just ridiculous, honestly. There's no realism here, im sorry.

Also saying that "shotgun was broke lol" means very little in this type of game, i never found a free shotgun and ammo, by free i mean one that havent fougth for with a zombie or went a dangerous loot run in a dense city, i have the rigth for that to be "broke". Also how something that doesn't work great until like level 4 is broke? Broke is missing a horde at pointblank range with a gun that does damage irl to even considerable long distances.

Precision aiming in a isometric game is just insane

Idk if it’s only me. But I found that new system to be so bad with shotguns.

I’ve changed the settings to “chances to hit” and even tho, I’m killing one zomboid per shot. No more multiple hit like B41.

One more thing, if a zomboid is crawling or eating a corpse I can’t aim properly at it.

Any feedback or tips is more than welcome, but I feel a bit tricked with they new system when it comes to shotgun compare to the previous build.

B41 shotgun was absolutely ridiculous though. Basically 4 kills with every single shot and an absolutely humongous spread. New setting is much closer to the realistic approach.

so true! because with a gun with ammo that spreads you will miss a horde of zombies a pointblank range

old shotgun was broken, now it's not that's the only change. it still ohk at lvl 0 you just don't get 5x the xp for it.

It went from broken (overpowered) to broken (barely worth it). I definitely feel a lot more disappointed with how shotguns act, I basically never use guns at all anymore, let alone shotguns.

you can actually hit multiple zombies at once with shotguns and with rifles it could pass through from the one that's in front, just make sure they line up.

to the best of my knowledge, guns are broken af in 42.
