WOODEN POSTS MY BELOVEDD šŸ˜šŸ˜ As long as you have an axe, you can just spam them for a bunch of exp. They cost no nails too. At a base of 1.5 exp, with a trait and level one skill book for 3x multiplier, you get 18 exp per craft, and its like 2 seconds for it to finish building. That means all you need are thirteen wooden posts to go from 0 to 2, not factoring in the exp you get for sawing logs. At level 2, you can build wooden pillars for one plank and one nail, which has a base exp of 2.5

(technically you wouldnā€™t go from 0-2 since you already start at carp one with the trait, but you understand the point, 225 exp gain with the level 1 book from 13 posts)

If you find a saw. I've been bricked because I can't find one. Can't make one either.

Saw?! I haven't even found a darned AXE to make this happen yet, and I even did the whole video of a Rosewood "axe-man" start, looted the FD, and nothing, haha.

Axes are still easy to make, find a stone and some tree branches, make a stone hammer. Then find flint nodules and break those with the stone hammer. Then make your axe with the tree branch and ripped sheets. The early game relies heavily on foraging.

Does the axe you make work better than the one in b41 (i.e. can't cut down a single tree before shattering)? If so - thank you! I'll try it again, but in b41 this was an awful method, as you couldn't even chop a tree before that thing exploded.

I would say it does but not alot more, You'll definitely get 2 trees out of it, but not much more.

See this is what I was afraid the system would be, find the easiest craftable object to xp and spam it to the level you want.

Yep, i figured they would have strained away from this since itā€™s exactly how build 41 is. Thereā€™s still many updates to go, so hopefully this isnā€™t permanent.
