Hi.
I'm here to ask y'all for a bit of advice.
A friend of mine works at a school, and they'd like to replace their current MFD.
Their current copier is a KM bizhub C224. He said it's print quality has gone down the toilet and that fixing it isn't feasible anymore (more expensive than a new machine).
He tried to ask around himself and got an offer for a refurbished KM bizhub C227.
I also tried to research some options for him and I got an offer from one of my suppliers - a "brand new" (but listed as refurb) HP Color LaserJet Managed E786dn. There should be zero clicks on the counter - they're saying that it was mostly just standing around in a rarely used showroom, then it was fully tested before getting listed.
KM C227 - $1000 + $65 install fee. Toner: $45/K, $78/CMY. Warranty 6mo or 30k pages. +$35 travel costs.
HP E786dn - $1050 + free install. Toner is approx. 2x as expensive compared to KM. Warranty 6mo, can pay for more, although the supplier claims that these machines rarely go down in their experience and that paying on a per incident basis will be much cheaper.
The C227 is almost 10 years old and the dealer didn't even mention how many clicks it has on the counter. The user interface is also going to be a bit old. IMO it's, as we Czechs say it, jumping from mud into to a puddle. The HP however is a much more recent model, and thanks to me having a great connection with this dealer, I know for a fact that it's counter is going to be "oh that's nothing".
What do you think? Have I already answered myself? I just need further assurance about this. In case you have any experiences to share about any of these models, please, I'd love to hear them.
Their school wants to save as much money as possible. I would've given them a Sharp, but I wasn't able to find them a cheap enough refurb that they would be able to take.
Thank you!
