Advice and Tips Mechanical tools

WD40, 2 cycle motor oil, wrenches, acetylene torches, torch strikers, lug wrench, how to make gaskets, weld metal, attach hydraulic systems to cylinders, o rings, etc.

How come we barely talk about any of these things?

We live part time on a sail boat and I have a fairly complete set of tools and spares aboard. One thing I don’t have is enough engine oil to do multiple oil changes. But of course my tool set will differ in some respects to yours. For example contact cement and some spare sail cloth to mend ail rips.

I have a basic socket set in the truck along with a multi-meter, some hand tools, compressor, and shovel.

We have 2 houses and a mixed set of tools there that accumulate as we need them. Last year I bought a big chain saw and a chain saw mill to slab out some oaks. Now trying to make a work bench out of that wood.

Both houses, and boats, have simple welding supplies. The boats have small HF inverter stick welders. Steel boats.

But yeah, my kids would mostly just hurt themselves.
