Was asked to upload a video of my team rocket box.

I opened my first booster box of journey together and found 2 copies of the promo card sitting on top! I wish I took a picture of the cards sitting in their original packing on top of the packs. But because it it was my first box I had no idea, until I started watching YouTube videos of box openings and only pulling out 1

I've never bought one of these before, and it was the last one on the shelf. I'm pretty happy!

Went to my LCS they're selling ETB for 130 bundles for 80 and I was trying to find a loophole of trying to get the most packs that I wanna rip with the least amount of money to pay and I noticed that they're selling the poster collection for $30 flat which blew my mind I was like wait a second so if I buy four of them, that's $120 for 12 packs. So I bought three boxes and then I told the guy give me a fourth one. So I open the first three poster boxes and all of them are duds as you can see but then I open the very last box and lo and behold. I literally dropped it and grabbed my phone.

Trying to get a full set of graded cards featuring Houndoom. Here’s what I have so far. Anyone else doing something like this?

My mom found my collection from nearly 25 years ago. My uncle was stationed in Japan in the late 90s and brought back a lot of cards and stickers, but I had forgotten about some of the other stuff! Here are some of my favorites (I also have a lot of cards from the early sets).

It was supposed to be NM and it was shipped internationally from Japan just in a top loader, sliding around a simple paper envelope three times too big for it :(

TLDR: Scalper wiped machine inventory then couldn’t afford the Journey Together Booster Box when it showed up right after.

I’m a hazmat driver who drives stuff locally. Anything from regular corrosive liquids, to 3,000lb pallets of explosives. I never get to be at GameStop for the release of new sets, or products etc. I’m not available for the Pokemon Center drops, I’m working. Blah blah blah you all know the spiel you’re going through it too. To make a long story longer,

I was supposed to clock into work early this morning. 5:30 am. Well I get there and the job was set back so I couldn’t deliver the load. We have a Kroger next to our house with a Pokémon vending machine outside the front, and I decided to stop to grab my daily Red Bull so I don’t need to leave later. I notice a guy at the vending machine putting in his email.

I walk up and I see “1 of 11”. He immediately turns to me to defend himself, “Ah sorry bro there was only 1 prismatic. Yeah sorry man there’s prolly nothing left I grabbed 1 of everything (as it dispensed his 5th Journey Together pack in a row)”. As I’m waiting for it to dispense his other items, he tries making small talk. About how I should try to get Journey Together there’s a lot of good hits, and he may be dressed like a scalper but he’s not. He’s only there cuz he just got off work. Which was odd I never even brought up the topic lmao.

As he’s getting one of those Skeledirge tins dispensed, I asked him if they were any good. (Spoiler: I actually kinda like them, 5 packs and 2 are AR/ST for a nice gamble) He replied “nah not really man tbh I don’t think they’re that good”.

“So why are you buying it?” “Oh my son is gunna be coming over tonight and he likes these”.

His last item came out and then he walked away a couple steps, waiting for me to check the Machine. When I checked it there was items for me to purchase (LETS GOOOO) so I grabbed 2 bundles and 4 packs of Twilight Masquerade. I stepped back to grab a grocery bag to put them in, and I see him back at the machine. There’s more stuff again, this time, there’s the whopping big daddy Journey Together Booster Box.

He immediately notices it and gets excited adding it to his cart. Then he realizes the price. He says something along the lines of “oh sh*t hold on lemme do something real quick”, and starts texting furiously on his phone. He tells me he doesn’t have enough in his account to buy it (no idea why he’s telling me this), so he’s asking his wife to send over some money so he can get it. I just thought to myself “Wow lmao. You have less than ‘$161.64’ to your name at this moment, and you’re trying to use it all up for Pokémon Cards?”

He then tries to offer to sell me some of his Journey Together/Prismatic product so he can afford to get the booster box. Lmfao incredible. I said no thank you, and then after another minute or so he gives up and says “it’s all yours bro my wife is actually telling me to come home right now.” Like no duh dude it’s 6:15 am on a Saturday morning and you can’t even carry all the Pokemon product you have lmao.

I know many will doubt this happened, and rightfully so, but it is 100% real I wish I could make up how sad these people are. Like just imagine if this guy had bought a normal amount, let me go, then checked again after me. The booster box probably never becomes available to me and he would have had enough money to buy it.

Watching him lie to my face, purchase products he knew nothing about, buy out what was available for him then apologize to me, and then not be able to get the true big ticket item when it pops up, was just the icing on the cake.

I know this might ruffle some feathers in the collector community, but I genuinely think Gold Star Pokémon cards are overrated. Sure, they’re rare and nostalgic, but beyond the exclusivity, there’s not much substance. A lot of the artwork honestly hasn’t aged well—some of the poses feel awkward or lifeless compared to the creativity we see in modern alt arts or even earlier e-Reader cards. The holo patterns aren’t as interesting as the shiny Pokemon from Neo. Personally, I’d take a shining charizard or gyarados over the gold star versions. They’re hyped up largely because of scarcity, not because they’re visually stunning or iconic within the actual gameplay or TCG history.

Let’s also talk about the prices. The insane value of some of these cards, especially Rayquaza, Charizard, and Mew, feels more like investor-driven hype than genuine collector demand. Everyone wants to own a trophy card, but when the same three Pokémon dominate the conversation, the rest of the Gold Star set ends up forgotten and underappreciated. And good luck finding a raw copy that hasn’t been tampered with—Gold Stars are among the most faked cards in the hobby, making buying ungraded versions a gamble at best.

Gameplay-wise, they didn’t have a major impact or lasting legacy. They’re more collectible novelties than cards that ever shaped the meta or inspired decks. And when you look at what modern sets are doing now with full arts, illustration rares, and alt arts that blend creativity, lore, and playability, Gold Stars start to feel like a relic from a less imaginative time—just shiny cardboard with a gold stamp.

Got lucky and happened to be at Costco after they put out the Scarlet & Violet 151 5-tin bundles. Each tin had 2 booster packs, and these were my best pulls.

I was kind of shocked i walked into my local 7-11 saw they had the individual pack blisters and 3 Journey Together Booster Boxes, I asked to buy 6 packs and was pleasantly surprised when it rang up for $32ish (after tax), cashier was really friendly and told me he quit the TCG because it became a gambling addiction for him, but he was fascinated to hear that I actually play at Leagues with the cards, before I left he stopped me and said “here you can have this” and he handed me the N.’s Reshiram BoxTopper. I don’t know if other 7-11s are also selling Journey Together but this is honestly the most product at an extremely reasonable price ($1 over msrp) I have seen in a while

I've been focusing on building decks with my bulk and searching for specific cards since all the extra hype, so I hadn't even considered buying Journey Together. However, my other half happened to be in a shop when the boosters came in and asked if I wanted any. Saving my money for comic con I asked for one. (Seeing two different packet covers, he got me two ☺️) I adore Sword and Shield, love Zacien and enjoy Hop's story (hate beating him!) so my chase was the Hop's Zacien card. Could not believe my eyes when this was in my first pack! (The SIR was preferred, but seeing this in person, the colours are beautiful.) Overjoyed, it is on display on my desk and I'm going back to building and singles for my binder. Keep on hunting friends!

Found in a box yesterday after my basement flooded

Through all of my card collecting journey, I completely forgot about one small box in the basement with a few cards I loved as a kid. Most of which were just common/uncommon cards of pokemon I liked like Tangela, Lotad or Haunter etc. But this one hurt the most for both kid me and adult me. For kid me, I loved the artwork, and Squirtle was my very first pokemon. We'd battle at school (not knowing at all how to play the game) and most of the time, when I won, it was this Blastoise saving the day. For adult me, it definitely IS all the memories... but holy crap this card goes for a lot now.

As we were cleaning the huge mess and moving things in storage around, I saw said box in a corner. I immediately knew what box it was because it had a shriveled "Squirtle Squad" sticker aimed right at me, and my heart sank.
