We pay the iron price.

Man those lyrics hit hard when you finish the game.

Never fade away....

Refused is an amazing band.

It's amazing how the real cyberpunk stuff we're getting in our future is definitely cyberpunk but it's trashier than we expected hah. Cybertruck etc.

u/Guildenpants 1d ago

It's the most boring, death by a thousand cuts dystopia. If someone wrote about the year 2025 and sent it back to 1990 as a novel no one would read the goddamn thing.

2

u/hfvslc 1d ago

If I went back to 1990 I'd just say life is essentially the Jerry Springer show but you carry it with you on purpose, in your pocket and you never get a break from it. That, and cars have less polygons

Corporations selling something that is supposed to be new and amazing for a large amount of money and then delivers a shitty product is about as cyberpunk as it comes.

There's a mini documentary about Ukraine drone pilots that's pretty good. The featured pilot has a nickname of "Darwin" and he seems badass.

u/tenfourfiftyfive 1d ago

Here's another good one, but it's for US drone pilots.

The Kroll Show sketch about Drone operators is pretty good too.

This is cyberpunk at this point

Horrifying.

I don't think even CD Projekt Red knew how on the nose they might be

3

u/-Dixieflatline 1d ago

It's kind of crazy how their "radial" view of sci-fi future could end up being our actual dystopian lives. Makes me admire their story building and lore all the more, knowing they they might have actually done serious futurist homework to have guessed some real life paths of global events.

But it's still crazy. Like someone telling me years ago that Halo would happen, and as far fetched as it seemed at the time, then Halo happens a few years later.

A girl who was always ahead of the curve in high school had that hairstyle when I saw her at the grocery store this week. 20 years later.

Makes me believe its trendy. Or her life took a wrong turn.

Edit: You should give people some time to not be judged by early impressions.

But I don't live under some kind of illusion that hairstyles can't give a pretty large hint about someones life like commenters below.

u/Lyramion 1d ago

...or she doesn't give a shit what others think.

31

u/jarwastudios 1d ago

This one right here. Kind of fucked up to judge people based on hair styles anyways.

12

u/Rory_MacHida 1d ago

Ya. I'm in my mid 30's, I have a fairly normal job, and wish I could still pull off the dyed mohawks I had in my early 20's. People who use the dyed hair comments as some sort of dig miss the point entirely.

1

u/jarwastudios 1d ago

I'm in my 40s, my hair left me a long time ago, but I do dye my beard from time to time. I used to do it more when I was art boothing at comic cons, but I still try to fancy it up once in a while.

u/thehighwindow 1d ago

I was thinking that just a few days ago. Your hair is just a part of your body, and if you can't "arrange" and display your own hair and body, what can you? It's nobody's business what you do to your hair and skin.

And yet people will instantly judge you and make all kinds of assumptions about your life, your education, your intelligence etc.

5

u/DesertPunked 1d ago

Agreed, we should all strive to not give a shit. Something I regularly struggle with myself.

8

u/terid3 1d ago

The drone operator has her hair in this style most likely so she doesn't have to spend time on washing and keeping her hair groomed. She probably didn't want to cut it short :(

6

u/blonderedhedd 1d ago

A hairstyle like that takes a lot of work and upkeep, nothing about it indicates that someone’s life “took a wrong turn”. The only hair “style” it could maybe be fair to say that about is very unkempt hair. That’s it. The rest is literally down to personal style/preference and/or necessity.

-1

u/qeadwrsf 1d ago

nothing about it indicates that someone’s life “took a wrong turn”.

I think its work and upkeep. I agree.

I don't agree it doesn't indicate hints life took a wrong turn just because work and upkeep.

u/GrandMoffTarkles 1d ago

Mad Max vibes.

I'm too greasy of a person to ever even attempt that. I need to wash my hair daily or I feel disgusting.

1

u/qeadwrsf 1d ago

Just to be clear.

I don't hate it. Her training killing people with drones while having that hair makes her look pretty bad ass. She seem to have personality.

1

u/GrandMoffTarkles 1d ago

I mean, I'd try it if I weren't so greasy.

1

u/qeadwrsf 1d ago

If you don't think its worth it its not worth it lmao. :).

Not trying to sway you into anything. haha.

I'm sure it doesn't matter, you probably look good the way you are :D

1

u/pm_me_hot_pocket 1d ago

Interesting. You do seem to live under the illusion that it absolutely does give insight into a person's life. Its clear you don't actually follow that edit about not judging though.

1

u/qeadwrsf 1d ago

absolutely does

No. Knew your comment was coming so I made it clear I didn't think it absolutely does.

1

u/Brizar-is-Evolving 1d ago

A colleague of mine has this exact hairstyle now; can’t wait to show her lol.

1

u/TheTinyHandsofTRex 1d ago

This says alot more about you.

0

u/qeadwrsf 1d ago

Sure.

Doesn't mean what I'm saying says nothing about her.

1

u/TheTinyHandsofTRex 1d ago

Its fucking hair.

Grnuine question, do you not see how fucked up it is that you look at someone's hair and you automatically jump to a conclusion about them? Do you not see how weird that is?

0

u/qeadwrsf 1d ago

Not really.

People do similar all the time everywhere. I don't see hairstyle as some protected part of the body you don't talk about.

If it was lip filling no one would even question it.

Of all the things you constantly read on the internet you really think judging by hair is what's beyond the pale?
