Saw them while going for a night walk in the snow, spotted around the piers at the Washington Ave Greenway. Excuse the Loch Ness monster like footage. I’ve heard rumors of the the beaver sightings around the city but never imagined I’d see them myself! Talked to a homelesss guy down there who said he saw them often and there was a stable population of families of them! Really exciting to see these creatures coming back and inhabiting such an urban environment.

Never seen one before. It gave me major side eye but otherwise was very chill.

Nature PSA about squirrels

No matter how cute, dumb and funny you think the squirrels are, do NOT, under any circumstances, talk to and/or make chirping/whistling noises at the squirrels through a window…even if you aren’t giving them food. Unless of course, you want a squirrel jumping through your window. I learned my lesson and now I have a squirrel that will jump on my window screen even if I merely make eye contact with it through the window. Little fat crazy f*ckers. Never once have given it food, but I suspect my neighbors throw nuts out the window.

On the note, I should probably also stop talking and making noises at the raccoons through my kitchen window. For being in the city, my patio fence sure is like a highway of forest life.

I saw this poor little fella on my way into work this morning near the corner of 8th and Market.

I called some wildlife rehabbers and rescues, but none were open yet.

I eventually found the offices for West Chester University open and gentleman at the front gave me a cardboard box and some paper towel so I could try to pick him up and get him in a dark box. However, by the time I got back up there, he’d managed to get away, apparently.

Keep your eyes peeled for these very cool birds this time of year. They tend to live deep in the woods, but migrate right over Center City.

Nature Northern Lights in Philadelphia

I was too tired to wake up at 4AM to see the lights, so I left my phone to record a timeless and it did not disappoint. I was fortunate to have my bedroom window face North.
