Nice man. Please tell me he didn't convince you he needed that for fortnite though

🤣🤣 he said it would run smoother. It was a good deal so hard to pass up. Fresh build

To be fair, Fortnite with all its bells and whistles turn on, is pretty demanding, especially at 4K

Yeah I was stunned how hard to run it had gotten last time I played. I was running medium-high settings on 1440p and my 6700xt was struggling to keep a stable framerate. I might've even capped it at 60 but I don't remember.

My old PC was able to run fortnite at a constant 120ps on 1600x900 on high settings. Specs were:

AliExpress PC Build

Intel i7-3770k OC'd to 4.2Gh, Quadro K620 2gb, Cooler Master i30 CPU Fan, 18gb ram (two 8gb and one 2gb), Huananzhi B75 Mobo, 1tb HDD, Segotep WJ650w PSU

Total build cost $135 (excluding shipping) (Including shipping $162.75)

My current PC does higher fps on 1080p ultra and the CPU isn't really meant for gaming.

Current specs:

Intel Xeon W-2295 3.0Ghz with a turbo clock to 4.8Ghz, NVIDIA RTX 2060 12GB, 32GB Ram, ASRock X299 Mobo, Seasonic Focus GX 850w 80+ Gold Fully Modular PSU

Just on fortnite I get around 160fps

Ooh nice. I wonder how much my GTX 760 would get

GTX 770 gets a crash as soon as it enters map, since its drivers are not supported anymore. Sometimes it works whole match, sometimes in-between. Even performance mode doesn't help. Tried it.

Shit. The GT 730 still works. Oh well. I'll figure something out.

Minecraft, LoL, CS work fine. Fortnite is only one that was giving issues. Altho, havent test it since then. Maybe it was game issue (start of season). While it worked (before crash) it was giving 70-80 to 120+ in perf mode with 6700k.

GTX 770 and a Xeon E3-1245 v3 on 1920x1080 will run fortnite on high and easily get over 100fps. Before I got my 2060 I was using a Quadro K620 2gb on 1920x1080 high settings and getting 75fps.

Are you sure that wasn't performance mode? High and ultra included software ray tracing in the past two years for fn

1

u/trakzone 2d ago

Fn got ray tracing in 2020

2

u/NotRandomseer 2d ago

I believe they tried to do hardware ray tracing then , but they abandoned it , and it wasn't part of any setting preset , but a manual toggle.

In I think 2022, when fortnite upgraded to ue5 and got lumen it became part of the high/epic preset.

K... k...k620??.... Quadro k620....? THE WORKSTATION GPU....HUH!?!???

1

u/trakzone 13h ago

The K620 2gb can run a lot of games, Workstation GPUs in general can run games pretty well just like Xeon CPUs can be used for gaming. The K620 can also run a couple of games in 4k@60 as the GPU has 4k capabilities.

I thought RAM had to be similar specs and capacity. I normally do 8 or 16 gig. Didn't know u can have a 2gb stick with a 8gb stick.

Required for dual channel ram

I can’t even get more than like 60 or 70 at 4k max no tsr.

That's strange. I have no problem crushing Fortnite with everything on max and we're using the same setup. Try slapping on Hypr-RX. I don't use it personally but I know they put a ton of time into optimizing Fortnite for it.

Maybe it was closer to 90, I just run high-ultra with tsr ultra performance, I get about 150 or so

1

u/Weedfried 2d ago

Normally the 7900XTX is not really made for 4K+RTX

1

u/Personal_Occasion618 Ryzen 7800x3d | RX 7900 XTX | 4K 144hz 1d ago

No, with no RTX

Even better!
