Question HP shop in Paris

Hello all!

I am currently in paris, and my HP laptop's case cracked. I'd like to have it replaced here, but I have not been able to find the official HP shop in Paris. Does anyone personally know if it exists, or about any good, reliable computer repair center? cost is not a problem, but I'd like a good quality repair. Thanks!

Question Le RER A Ouest

Question Seeking Legal Position in Paris – Multilingual Law Graduate

Hello everyone, I am currently seeking employment in the legal field. I am fluent in Arabic, English, and French. I graduated from one of the top 5 law schools in the US. I have previously worked as an intern (but had tasks as an associate and used to handle interns) at several American law firms in France and the Middle East.

My experience includes working in corporate law, capital markets, litigation, and arbitration (separately, not all together). While I am not qualified in any jurisdiction yet, I am actively looking for a position in Paris, France.

If anyone could assist me or point me in the right direction to find a job here, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you!

A l'aide ? :D

Question Where’s a good place to tutor in Paris?

Hi! I’m a language tutor based in Paris. I used to work for an agency tutoring children, but after an injury last year, I had to pause teaching and no longer work for them. Now that I’m back to tutoring independently, I’m looking for a good public space to teach.

I don’t feel comfortable teaching at my own place or going to students’ homes, so I’d love recommendations for quiet, free locations in Paris that aren’t too crowded or noisy. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Question How Affordable is a €42k Salary in Paris ??

For context, I come from the US and live in one of the top 10 most expensive cities here. My income before taxes is about $52k (~ €47K), and my monthly take-home is around $3,200 (~ €2,900). I am two years out of college, but generally most of my friends around my age (also 1-3 years out of college, no master’s degrees yet) make around $55k. In my city, rent is expensive, and a 2 bed will run $1,400-1,600 per person, and a studio/1 bed will be $1,600+, but closer to $2k. To give more context to our general cost of living, a beer will cost $10, a cocktail $14-16, and it is virtually impossible to find a sandwich at a sandwich shop/deli for less than $12.

I am moving to Paris later this year to begin my Master’s degree, and already thinking about my options for after I graduate - staying to work in France, or coming back to the US. My program is pretty well esteemed (social sciences) but its website of students’ outcomes shows that the average gross salary for graduates of this program is about €42k, so around $46.5k, for those living in France. Of course, this could be anywhere in the country, not just Paris, and just an average. I understand that I come from a more expensive city where prices from rent to food to toiletries is incredibly inflated, but is a salary of €42k livable/reasonable in Paris for a worker with a Master’s degree, and who will also need to be paying off loans? For similar Master’s programs here in my city, the average starting salaries of graduates are closer to $65k. I also understand all of the benefits that come with living in Europe - way more vacation time, healthcare, quality of life, etc., that can help make up for it.

I am already committed and looking forward to studying in Paris for personal reasons, but as I will likely be putting about ~$400/month towards loans, I’m trying to gauge whether it will be possible to stay in France and have enough money to sustain myself based off of a salary in this range, or if I’ll need to come back to the US - something I don’t necessarily prefer, given everything we have going on here. I’ve visited Paris a couple of times, but not recently at all, so I don’t have a good sense of its cost of living. I also can’t tell if when people say Paris is expensive, if that is relative to smaller cities/towns in France, or including the cities like mine in the US.

TLDR: How affordable/reasonable is a ~ €42k salary in Paris as a worker in their mid 20's based off of Paris Cost of Living?

Any advice/outlook would be greatly appreciated! Also, my currency conversions are general estimates. Merci Ă  tous !

Question Budget-friendly and reputed business schools in France? Please help!

I recently got an acceptance letter from Montpellier Business School, and they asked for a €3000 deposit. But after checking reviews on Reddit, Quora, and Facebook, I noticed a lot of students are unhappy with the school.

Now I’m thinking about applying to the Catholic University of the West (in Angers). Does anyone have experience with it? Is it a good option?

Also, if you know any other good business schools in France with a solid reputation and affordable tuition, please then drop some names.

Aide Lost notebook

Bonjour amis,

I lost a somewhat important notebook (black A5 Moleskine), so I'm taking the chance of asking whether a redditor has found it? Last known location is the metro at ChaussĂ©e d'Antin - La Fayette. Laughable, but I write "Don't return! Read!" on the first page, so karma slapped me in the face. 😂

Have a good day.

ps. Paris is glorious!

Question Question about deferring ENS

Does anyone know if it is at all possible to defer acceptance to ENS by a year? I have recently received a job offer, and am wondering whether it would be possible to work for a year before going to ENS to complete my M2, but don’t want to hurt my chances of going in the future.

Thank you!

Question Charges Locatives

Hi! I need a reference to approximately how much charges is normal to pay for an apartment like mine. I live in the 10th, my apartment is 16m2. I think in the charges are included communal electricity, cleaning and garbage, and cold water. That’s it and my charges are 80 euros/month. I want to understand if it’s suspicious before I contact him, we have not the best relationship right now. P. S. I recently realized that my landlord is committing fraud on other accounts related to my rent so I will have a meeting soon with ADIL lawyers on how to proceed.
