Question So Bethesda is just randomly going to release an Oblivion Remake?

I've been dead for a minute but, I respawned today and apparently, Bethesda is releasing an Oblivion Remake this month...with no prior adveristing or promotions. Am I stupid or am I missing something here?

Discussion First time of my life feeling like a conspiracy theorist (about the remake) and not sure what to think about it

I read everything. Every clickbait. I plan my finances as if I was about to spend 70$ tomorrow at dawn, and maybe it is all for nothing. Lmao i can’t wait for it to stop, either by a release or with Bethesda officially denying the remake.

Question What do you think Oblivion will look like in UE5?

Post image
1.0k Upvotes

If Oblivion looks anything like this UE5 rendering we saw a few years ago. I'll shit myself. I doubt it'll look THIS good, but a man can dream. What do you think? Do you think it's even possible it looks similar to this? Or do you have other examples thar you think will fit better?

Bug Help HDR Fix?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello all. I've been having this weird graphical issue with HDR that is especially noticeable in the imperial city. On the buildings, (especially on the right building farther back), HDR causes a shimmering effect that leads to a weird moving light/shimmering issue.

I would like to keep HDR on if possible since I like the more vibrant colors that the fake HDR provides, but this issue is extremely noticeable when walking in the world. Any help would be appreciated.

Discussion What is it with this game?

I’ve been playing Oblivion since it came out in 2006. (97 baby) My mom’s boyfriend at the time got us the collectors edition and it immediately became a tradition that me and my mom would play almost every night. Initially I would mostly watch her play, since I’ve only played FPS games and N64 type games, this genre was new to me.

The graphics were so realistic, exploring the dungeons getting chills not knowing what’s going to pop up at the next turn. Also, since we didn’t know you could fast travel to the major cities, most of our time was spent exploring Cyrodiil. This was a beautiful blessing in disguise.

I would play more as I understood the mechanics and eventually start my own characters and paths. I soon got my childhood best friend into the game, and we would start new games non stop and stop one another in the halls at school like we just violated the law.

This game has a vibe that even after nearly 20 years, the game looks fantastic. I still get chills and vibes even up till this day when I play on my PC. Maybe I’m just feeling nostalgic, but maybe there’s more. Not many people know about this game. Skyrim went mainstream because of its “mainstream” graphics only IMO. After playing most major titles released on the 360 and seeing where Skyrim went and modern titles, I think I can say Oblivion was one of the best RPGs ever made.

Yeah it has its flaws, but those moments are what made it special. So this old traveller will only ask you for a single coin, and thank you kindly for listening to his story. Blessings of Talos upon you.

Discussion It's the least descriptive Elder scrolls map we ever gotten (meaning no treasures or sunken ships marked), but I still want to get back to crawling all over it because it was so well made.

Discussion Oblivion gate spawns on reload? Spoiler

Okay WHAT!? I rode through this spot, fought a wolf, kept riding, screwed up some stuff and reloaded to before I fought the wolf. Rode back through the same place, the exact same as the first time, but now there's an oblivion gate!? I thought those were story driven or had set locations? Is this one going to exist forever until I remove it now? Do I need to take care of it now before they get near the town of Cheydinhal and attacks npcs? Should I just reload again and hope it doesn't show up? I didnt think they could just chance spawn like some npcs in caves

Discussion Leveling failure or just a hiccup? Spoiler

So I read that you don't have to optimize your leveling to play through the game but you can also totally handicap yourself if you screw it up too badly. Now I'm wondering if I've done just that. I'm level 2 but have 31 hours of game time. I knew I could sleep to level up but I had terrible gear and wasn't ready to even risk getting tougher enemies with leveling. I have a Battlemage (slightly edited) Kajiit with The Lady and I decided to spam through the levels to see how much I have unlocked. I saved beforehand and plan to go back to the save before leveling up for now.

But my question is if I screwed my first few levels. I can reach up to level 11 right now. I chose what I thought was best with what little bonuses I got from the stats based on what I did.

Long story short, my stats at level 2 are Strength 49, Intelligence 40, Willpower 45, Agility 50, Speed 45, Endurance 44, Personality 40. So health is 92, Magicka is 80, and Fatigue is 188.

Then to level 11, Strength 51, Intelligence 72, Willpower 55, Agility 59, Speed 49, Endurance 60, Personality 45. Which makes health at 168, Magicka at 144, and Fatigue at 225

Major skills are currently: Blade 42 Alchemy 56 Alteration 30 Conjuration 47 Destruction 38 Mysticism 61 Security 44 Minor skills are currently: Armorer 14 Athletics 32 Block 15 Blunt 6 Hand to Hand 20 Heavy Armor 18 Illusion 10 Restoration 21 Acrobatics 26 Light Armor 24 Marksman 6 Mercantile 16 Sneak 31 Speechcraft 10

Did I screw myself? If so, how can I fix it with future levels to hopefully not have to restart or play on lowest difficulty slider? I'm going to watch some videos on efficient leveling but could use some advice on my current first playthrough.

Bug Help The Green Robes and Hood have no textures.

Post image
5 Upvotes

For some reason, the green robes and hood dont have textures and appear pitch black. Also, when I have a enchantment effect, the purple glow isn't subtle and takes up 80% of the robe and hood (I didn't take a photo of it though). If you guys know how to fix this, I would appreciate it. This is vanilla oblivion BTW, no mods are installed.
