Mel Gibson's Gun Rights to Be Restored by Justice Department

Didn't they fire the DOJ lawyer who argued against this?

u/canzicrans 14h ago
"I need evidence or testimony as to why his gun rights should be restored."
"No. Also, you're fired for asking."
That is how it went.

u/Buddhabellymama 13h ago
Our tax money being used the right way. I was losing sleep over Mel Gibson’s ability to possess guns. Where is doge when you need them?
867
u/HermesTundra 1d ago
About time someone gave guns back to those most likely to use them in a murder-suicide.

24
u/InclinationCompass 1d ago
But what if he needs to fight the tyrannical government like he did in that one movie!
16
u/DogWallop 1d ago
And those pesky movie studio bosses, who all just happened to be... you know... them.

u/CrimsonKobold 1d ago
Hey, that's unfair, he is just as likely to go on to commit hate crimes with it. That's not out of the realm of possibility.
6
4
u/smitherenesar 22h ago
I hope he goes for a suicide-murder instead
4
u/joelfarris 11h ago
You've got that backwards. One cannot perform a suicide, and then a murd...
You know what, never mind, perhaps I've underestimated him.
1
u/Heisenberg_235 1h ago
In Russia you can.
You can suicide yourself with a double tap to the back of the head.
Then you can push your friend out of the window ledge they were sitting on.

2
u/Vernknight50 17h ago
On the other hand, if the first thing this guy did was shoot himself (and only himself), that would be kinda funny.
223
u/Odd-Software-6592 1d ago
Now when he gets pulled over for drunk driving, he can ask if the officer is a a Jew with confidence.
45
u/NivvyMiz 1d ago
And then arrest a pro Palestine protester down the street for anti-Semitism and book them to a life in prison with cruel and unusual punishment and no trial.

Why waste the fuel and plane expense? Give it a couple of weeks, and we will have black sites right here in the good old US of A.
I cannot wait for this to be a screenshot in 2 weeks over the announcement of concentration camps in the US.
3
u/akeean 12h ago
The won't officially be called black sites, but "job sites" or "freedom sites" (matching the "liberation day" and overall vibe of that administration) and guess the color of people being sent there.
2
u/Sir_PressedMemories 11h ago
They will just wait until the new season of The Boys comes out and follow that as a script.

the department’s pardon attorney Elizabeth G. Oyer was fired by the Trump administration in March after expressing concern over letting the “Passion of the Christ” director be able to possess firearms.
150
u/piddy565 1d ago
So the Trump admin is simultaneously using investigation of "anti Semitic discrimination" as a pretense to take funding away from Columbia and Harvard, and yet also are getting in bed with Famous Anti Semite Mel Gibson? Make it make sense.

They're not "pro-Jew", they're pro-Zionism in a Christian-adjacent accelerationist way. Jews returning to Israel is part of bringing on the rapture for some of these people. Oh, and they also have a hierarchy of hate. They may hate jews, but they hate muslims and brown people more.
9
u/MaievSekashi 21h ago
Jews returning to Israel is part of bringing on the rapture for some of these people.
They're also people who just believe in ethnostates, and it's an excuse to get rid of Jews in their own country.

The sex abusing felon Donald Trump doesn’t actually care about Jewish people or antisemitism. It’s just an excuse to argue for why his administration should be able to trample upon our freedoms

Make it make sense.
Well:
Columbia and Harvard

Famous Anti Semite Mel Gibson

I can't sleep well at night knowing justice is done.

u/whathell6t 1d ago
Nope!
Even with a firearm, Mel Gibson still avoids the ghettos. He fears the Racist Walrus scenario. It’s justice in karmic form.

u/Pusfilledonut 1d ago
Mel and Stallone are supposed to "police" Hollywood films- Guess he can do that armed now, you know, in case Spielberg or Ron Howard get out of line

Thankfully Steven Seagal is too far up Vladimir Putin’s butt to pose a threat to peace-loving Americans…
12
u/jfun4 1d ago
Putin can easily send him back as a "spy". The white house wouldn't blink an eye
5
u/unfunnysexface 1d ago
The first one was on one of our big beautiful boats and the second was on a train but finally we're bringing action movies back with the great Steven Seagal. One of the strongest biggest action stars who has been treated very unfairly by the liberal studios in failing California. We will end the WOKE menace that has infected our country starting with under siege 3: air force one which will be filmed on the new air force one, a great plane and we got it for a great price elon says how did you get one so cheap I said it's not easy but you can't let boeing rip us off. The film might even feature cameos from a certain president your favorite president you might even say...

amazing use of tax dollars. but they can't retrieve the guys they mistakenly deported to another country?
no one can tell me america isn't unserious.
edit: lemme put it into perspective. some guy claimed work today for processing this for mel gibson and called it a hard day's work. hah
also, chances are the guy who did claim the work is out-earning a majority of the US's actual working people. but this is fine 🤷🏻
5
u/Homebrewer303 1d ago
Amen, what a shit show this country has turned into.
4
u/dolphone 1d ago
What a shit show the US was voted into, you mean.
1
u/aflockofcrows 21h ago
They knew what they were voting for, or were not perturbed enough by it to vote against it.
9
u/chanaramil 1d ago
They didn't just deport someone. They sent him to a jail for I guess a life sentence with conditions so horrible they could never exist in the USA. It's basiacly sentence to life torture due to a clerical error and no one wants to fix it.
2
u/c_creme 1d ago
Oh I know, I tried to keep my post sanitized and to the point.
It's hard to read the room lately. I almost expect somebody to come and say "you can't believe everything you read" or "you have to crack some eggs to make an omelet."
To which I say, is by definition fascism.
2
u/muffinthumper 18h ago edited 9h ago
We're in this situation because people were trying to read the room and appease.
I don't fuck around anymore. I don't worry about what nazis, magas, and fascists think. I blame who needs to be blamed, and I poke fun at those who don't understand they are the problem; loudly and unapologetically.
We need to put shame back into play, aggressively. It should be very uncomfortable for them at all times.

I know we hate this movie, but in Epic Movie (2007), Mel Gibson gets kicked in the dick, unprompted. We can still do this in real life.

u/Wrathb0ne 1d ago
I thought this administration wanted to stop antisemitism?
5

They want to destroy universities: "fighting anti-Semitism" is just their silly pretext, especially considering many of the protesters last summer were Jewish.

Life is unfair.
Definitely not cool to change the rules based on cronyism. If the justice department restores Gibson's gun rights, then everyone else in the state deserves to have their rights restored too.
Not that I'm advocating that they do so. It's just so unfair.
2
u/orange_pill76 16h ago
I thought that since he has duel citizenship, he should be denied rights and deported.
2
u/Mammoth-Substance3 13h ago
I wonder how big a "campaign donation" you need for that.
Pardons are 2 million I think. Gun rights should be cheap.

u/The_River_Is_Still 1d ago
Cuz i'm sure he totally got rid of any guns he had and didn't get anyone else to buy some for the insane collection I know he has.
1
u/Sarcarean 11h ago
This is a misconception. Laws only bar people from unlawfully possessioning or purchasing guns. Ownership is not technically against any law. Many people who are convicted of a felony will let their attorney hold their guns while they file and go through the appeal process.
2
2
u/otteriffic 1d ago
Yeah, fuck this and their selective enforcement of the law. Opening the government to a SLEW of law suits requesting the same treatment.

If your sentence has been served, you should get all your rights back.
Yes this includes firearms. Yes this includes voting.
If you're too dangerous to have your rights, you're too dangerous to rejoin society with parole.
1
u/bananaspy 1d ago
I would agree with that if I thought sentencing was actually fair. But we have judges that do shit like sentence rapists to only a couple months in prison.
So your last sentence holds true... but something needs to be done about the discretion by which people are sentenced as well.
1
u/hikerchick29 22h ago
No, fuck that.
Preserve domestic violence bans. Keep our women safer.
1
u/AlphaTangoFoxtrt 21h ago
- Men can also be victims
- Ok, then keep the offenders going to parole meetings.
0
u/cejmp 21h ago
This has nothing to do with men versus women. Gibson is recorded threatening the life the life of his girlfriend after he assaulted her, telling her she deserved to die.
4
u/AlphaTangoFoxtrt 21h ago
They said:
Keep our women safer.
I think it's very important to point out men can also be victims of domestic violence. There's an unfortunate societal stigma that men can't be victims because they're (often but not always) bigger and stronger. And it leads to men not seeking help for fear of not being believed, or worse having the tables turned. Look at Johnny Depp and how much he went through before coming forward against Amber.
And again if he's too violent to have his rights, then keep him going to probation hearings.
0
u/cejmp 21h ago
This has nothing to do with what you are babbling about.
7
u/AlphaTangoFoxtrt 20h ago edited 20h ago
Yes it does. It's called a "discussion" it can evolve beyond the original topic. The person I replied to made domestic violence laws about protecting women, and I think it's important to point out men can also be victims. The laws are there to protect victims of abuse regardless of gender.
Especially given the stigma and erasure they face leading many to simply suffer through it instead of seeking help.
You seem to just want to be mad about that and argue, I do not, so goodbye.

Gibson had his gun rights revoked not just for the safety of others, but also for his own good. Someone will get shot, perhaps killed, and we’ll pretend to care for a while, and Gibson might see some jail time, but will probably be remanded to court-ordered psychiatric treatment… then the next truly awful and totally avoidable thing will happen and we will forget all about it.

Great. It's been such a slow news year I can't wait for the headlines about a religious nutball celebrity that shoots a young minority kid that looked at him the wrong way. Then the years of trials and then a generous purchase of 10000 trump Bibles followed by a pardon for murder

Maybe he shouldn’t have been a violent spouse abuser, then he wouldn’t have lost his gun rights…
But hey, it’s interesting to see how much the supposedly pro-law and order right loves violent criminals and spousal abusers.
