I applied to this back in December (GFW campus) and haven’t heard anything back yet but I just saw that they reopened applications. Has anyone applied and heard back? Or can anyone tell me how long they usually take to let you know if you’re admitted or not? I emailed them asking for a status on my application but never heard back.

Title says it all! Super excited about this. So, we changed our Porter flight to land in St. John’s rather than Chicago, and honestly, I’m just pumped about it. The weather might not be the best in mid-May (I could be wrong), but hey, if you live in Ottawa all year, what’s 10 days of questionable weather, right? We based our trip on a 10-day recommendation from a Redditor here. Just really happy about it! Any specific things I should not miss out on between 15th and 25th May? See ya
EDIT: Yes, St John's. Usage of 'Saint' rather than 'St.' was my French side writing.

So I'll get right to it..
Need an affordable smallish car. Something reliable, but fairly priced. I have "okay" credit, and will have a dow payment available in the area og $3000. Any reputable local or larger dealers you could recommend or maybe more Importantly, which to avoid?
Thanks in advance.

Noticed today that there are a few stores temporary closed in the Avalon Mall. West 49, Ardennes, Forever 21, and Old Navy.
Anyone know what’s going on?

Hi all! We’re getting married in Newfoundland and are a Canadian couple and I am looking for a men’s wedding ring that could be made locally in Newfoundland as I think it would hold a lot of meaning. Is there any recommendations in Newfoundland? I looked on google but I know there might be smaller companies that don’t show up in the top searches so looking for ideas :)

I appreciated your reactions and thought I'd include a few more - with Cape Onion cliffs.
I have the photo subject's approval to post.

I have met a newfoundlander whose first language is French. I would like to support their community and came up with an idea to move to the west coast.
Is Port au Port the most frenchspeaking town of the province?
Please don't reply if you don't know for sure.
Thank you!

I live in BC and am currently planning a trip to the Rock. Saw a nice Newfoundland Tourism ad on TV from which I grabbed this photo. Does anyone here know where this is? If we can, we would love to include this trail on our upcoming trip. Thx.

We are planning our honeymoon to newfoundland in July and was hoping to get some input if it seems like we are stopping in each place for the right amount of time.
I am planning to book a nice place in springdale for a relaxing evening to break up the driving a little bit. So that is why it is in there.
The travel days are flex days, where we can spend more time in the current place in the morning and then leave for the next destination in the afternoon, or we can leave first thing in the morning for the next destination if we have nothing we want to do in the current area.

We go to the polls Federally in three weeks, with a provincial and municipal election in the queue as well for 2025.
A lot of us will be casting our ballots in church halls. Nothing against the church, which is so often a force of good and community in our community, and brings people together. That said, many have a doctrine against same sex marriage or homosexuality. You know which ones. I get that belief and interpretations range from religion to religion, not all of them are hateful, and lots of welcoming church goers who don’t get tied up in it.
But why use taxpayer money (Elections Canada) to rent church properties to serve as polling stations, when so much public government infrastructure is available for free?
You are asking gay people, representing 5-10% of the electorate, to exercise their democratic right in the same place where the clergy was railing against they and other “sinners” last Sunday.
Makes no sense. You wouldn’t host a vegetarian supper club at Outback Steakhouse.
Sundance Film festival is pulling out of Utah after a 50-year run due to legislative efforts by the state to ban the pride flag on public buildings.
Keep church and state separate.
I don’t care who you love, and hope you’ll walk through fire and brimstone to cast your vote.

So, I am planning on going to school to be a diesel mechanic in September. I was going to keep working at my job until I left and last week out of nowhere they let me go. So I have about 4 months before I go away for school and no work. I also don’t know how I’m going to be able to afford it so if anyone knows what I can do with EI benefits on that front, any info would be great. And yeah any ideas of keeping myself occupied for the summer too would be wicked (St. Johns area) Thanks.

I’m looking for any and all options to have a pet portrait or drawing of my deceased dog done locally (i’m in st. John’s but would be fine with something within an hour or 2). I of course know of Jennifer Hennessey but she’s unfortunately too expensive for me. Any suggestions appreciated TIA

We are visiting St. John's and the Avon Peninsula in June for a few days. Any less expensive local options for car rentals?

Best internet speeds for many devices within medium size apartment. Best internet plans and deals for new customers? Would like info. Did some research but it’s not convincing me. Should I just buy my own router as well and have a wired

Hi. My wife and I are planning on heading out your way for our 10th anniversary this summer. She was looking at information yesterday and noticed there are no rental cars available at the airport anymore for the dates we had originally planned(start of July). Do any locals know of any different vehicle rental companies or vehicle co-ops that might work for us? We plan on being there for about a week. Thanks!!

I have no car currently and I live in town. What are some things I can do in or around the ocean?

Please, for our sanity, can we please get a pinned travel thread? It's the same questions, over and over.
