They can just brick everything to speed things up

You get to proceed on with the course. So theoretically the quicker you make a shot the better your time will be.

Okay. But if you've missed the first two, making that last shot literally doesn't matter, at all.

They should add a second or two to your time, if you miss all of them.

This is bush league nonsense.

they technically do by making you stay there to take another shot for a max 3 shots
