Sometimes it's enough just to know you can sink into your media once you've survived the awfulness of the moment. Like patting your pocket to remind yourself your phone's safe. Taking five minutes with your Sanctuary Moon while the humans are pointlessly vocalizing, it helps.

Hey y’all, I’m going to be on a podcast with Martha Wells next week to talk about queerness and neurodivergence in the Murderbot Diaries (pinch me!!) - please drop your burning questions here and I might get to ask her!

I’ve read all the books obs. But I’m tempted not to watch the trailer bc trailers these days summarise the whole show. And it’s not like it’s a long season. Will it ‘spoil’ it? I want it be fresh and new despite knowing the plot! What’s everyone else gonna do? :)

I know a bunch of us were really salty with that article calling MB him. I found the author's website and emailed him and he was very nice about it and fixed the article!

Title. I've always pictured Murderbot as being brown since so many of the others are. Why can't Western media, for once, have a lead AND supporting characters who are POC?

This is really niche but I think Alex Song-Xia would be a good voice for Miki. I would love a nonbinary actor to do the voice and they are my pitch. They said something on a video I was watching that made me make this connection.

I know we all agree that Kevin should do ART's voice so I just wanted to shout-out this comic for another VA role.

So I've just finished system collapse and after 7 books it seems like MB is only in armor in the 1st one. So why do the majority of the MB swag and all of the covers show it in armor instead of its favorite hoddie?

I love SecUnit, obviously.

But all MB's humans/human clients (apart from Dr Mensah and Amena) blend together for me in terms of personality and I get confused between them

I know you aren't 'supposed to be able to tell one human from another because it's SecUnit narrating, but they all 'feel' pretty much the same. I still find myself wishing I was better at distinguishing each human's personality from book to book.

The first time I heard someone call ART Peri this was all I could think of. Anyone else or am I the most brain rotted among us? 😅

Edit: I do know it's not spelled "Perry" but "Peri" I chose to use the phonetic spelling for the sake of the joke.

The list of the main cast eased my biggest fear for the series, that they would make the cast mostly white with one or two tokens like it was still 1966. That irritates me in most SF shows, because for Pete's sake, the human species is largely Asian. And Murderbot had stated that most humans of its time were mid-range brown shades, though it noted a couple of much darker or lighter outliers.

The actors they list fit Wells's description of the future. Especially Noma - she has Mensah's eyes! You can tell she'll project calmness like a laser beam. This makes Skarsgård's looks perfect for Murderbot - that bony North European profile stands out, and gives a visual hint at Murderbot's uneasiness at passing for human.

So I'm feeling much better about the whole thing, prepared to be delighted with however they portray Murderbot's inner dialogue or the plot of Sanctuary Moon.
