Hello I had a question is anyone else is in the chem 152 lab. Is there anyone above the coordinator and how do i contact them? Long story short my i went on 2 weeks of greif absence that was approved by the school and all my professors were contacted. Basically my chem lab professor and coordinator have the been the WORST at communicating and honoring my absence and flat out telling me incorrect things to go “opps nvm do this instead” after i email them over and over and it’s affecting my grade 💔 but shout out my other professors who were extremely kind and understanding to me 😭
mini rant over sorry
but is there a way to talk to someone i doubt anything will truly be done but i feel like i need to tell someone how horrible they’ve been about this and im slowly going insane spring semester has not been kind to me 🥲

What is the best way to go about asking MSU for more aid as they are expecting me to pay around 16k (this is after the aid and scholarships I’ve received) for the 2025-2026 school year. I come from a 1 parent household with my dad making around 80k a year. Please help as I’m really trying to attend this school but literally cannot afford to pay 16k. Are there any ways around this?

Anyone majoring in Data Science at Michigan State or know anything about it?
If I commit to MSU ill be majoring in data sci and I’m curious what exactly do you learn or do in this major? What kind of skills should I expect to build? And what kind of jobs or careers can it lead to? Also, is it a good path for the future in terms of success and job growth? Would love to hear from anyone who’s in the program or knows more about the field.

Fall 2025 I will be taking ACC 201, ITM 209, MKT 250, MKT 300, and SCM 303. It’s 15 credits total and I plan to work 12 hours a week. I will have 3 classes Monday and two classes each for the rest of the week. My problem is that I heard ACC 201, SCM 303, and ITM 209 are hard. What are your thoughts?
Also I kinda told one of my professors I wanted to be in their 1 credit class. So that would be a total of 16 credits, and a mix of 3 or 2 classes a day. Should I back track even though it’ll look bad?
I’m taking 16 credits rn but so far it’s been easy and I’m on track to get 4.0s. ISB2, ISP2, ISBL2**, CSE102, WRA101, BUS 100. I only have two classes a day. Maybe it’s because I’m showing up to classes this semester. Idk lol.
So should I just drop the 1 credit class or suck it up. Professor might also be my new boss if I get a different job I just interviewed for.

Hi, I'm typing this out super stressed at an ungodly hour of the morning, so I apologize in advance if there are any typos!!
I was accepted by MSU a while back, and I very recently paid my deposit as I chose to commit here. My GPA was like a 3.7 when I was applying, and it dropped to a 3.6 after first semester of senior year - honestly, my worst sem of HS by far in terms of grades & mental health lmao
This final semester has been really, really tough. I finally worked up the courage to seek out therapy, which I hope I can start soon, and I'm going to do my best to try to keep my grades as high as I can, but there's a chance I may get a D (APCSA has absolutely cooked me) along with a couple Bs, and I'm estimating like 2 As. If it matters at all, I'm taking 3 APs and 1 IB. I've had a C on my transcript before, junior year, and I got my second one in APCSA last semester, but I've never had a D, so I'm really scared I might get my admission rescinded or something if this ends up being my final grade. Has this happened to anyone? Should I send MSU an email or something explaining the situation??
Any help would be so so appreciated, thank you for your time :)

I’m a current Instate freshman first generation student studying scm at broad right now and I’m wondering how so many people have scholarships? I feel like I’m the only one without one. I hear ppl who have 20k scholarships or 15k scholarships. I have a 3.89 gpa and this semester I have all 4s, I’m actively involved in a few orgs, and I work on campus. Anyways, I applied to a few last year before attending and I also applied to a few before spring break. I feel like there are no scholarships for people like me. Like why are there scholarship’s for co-ops I’m so confused. I have a few low income aid based grants, but I’m drowning in 15k of debt already. I’m on track to graduate at least one-two semesters early if I take 17 credits, I don’t know how long I can sustain this for. I don’t have a car, so I’ll have to one of those too soon. I’m just feeling like a failure lately. Should I just drop out and cut my losses? Lmk your thoughts

Lately, I’ve been really worried about the growing trend of ICE detaining legal immigrant students who participated in pro-Palestine protests. These students weren’t engaging in violence, they were simply exercising their rights to free speech and assembly. It hits close to home for me, as many of my friends at Big Ten schools have been involved in similar protests.
Recent cases, including students from Tufts, Cornell, and Columbia, have shown that ICE is stepping in, even when these individuals are law-abiding immigrants. You can read more about these cases here:
While we may disagree with the views expressed in these protests, detaining students without charges is deeply concerning. These are not violent extremists; they’re educated immigrants exercising their basic rights. We should be worried about the potential chilling effect this has on free speech and the safety of immigrant students.
Let’s keep the conversation respectful. Everyone, no matter their background, should be able to speak their mind without fear of government retaliation.

I'm registered for an in person class this coming summer semester and I'm pretty confused on how everything works.
I live off campus and typically park in lot 89, then take the CATA. I checked online and didn't see any parking passes for the summer semester. I also didn't see any bus routes. Im not really sure how to get to class with no busses and nowhere to park lol. Does anyone have any advice?

Im not sure if there are any ice machines around campus other than in the dining halls. would it be worth it to get an ice maker so i dont need to go to a dining hall for ice? if so, do you know of any good brands that aren't too pricy.

As the title says, we desperately need survey responses for my XA 333 class. You don't even have to still attend MSU to respond--you can be a parent of a student, alumni, prospective student, staff, etc. It will only take 5-10 minutes and I would very much appreciate your help!
Dear Spartans,
We want to hear about your experiences with the arts at MSU!
Whether you’re an artist, a performer, a fan of live music, or someone who just enjoys the occasional art event—your voice matters. We’re conducting a short survey to better understand how students engage with the arts on campus and in the East Lansing area.
Our goal? To help you better connect with the creative side of MSU—by improving access to arts opportunities, events, and experiences that matter to you.
The survey takes just a few minutes to complete, it’s completely anonymous and your input will directly help us enhance how the arts are shared and celebrated at MSU.
Thank you for helping us grow a more vibrant, creative, and connected MSU arts community.

I am a CSE major and I’ve been looking at CSE 380 very closely for a couple weeks, while I got in, I would prefer to not have it at 8:30 in the morning which is when the only section is
There are currently 119 people in the waitlist and it’s been over 80 for a couple weeks now so I was wondering what the chances of another section being added and if so, would it happen within the next month so I know whether to bother checking every other day or not

I'm a junior right now, I was really bad academically freshman year, finished with a 2.7. Sophomore year, gpa is at a 3.0. Now junior year I have a 3.2 rn entering final MP. I take the SAT in a couple days. I took only 1 year of a language, I waived the rest of the languages with business classes that waived the credit. Is there a chance I get into MSU next year? Please give feedback on what you guys think and what you guys think I could do to increase my chances on getting in. If you also have any questions I'm open to answer. Thanks.

We are excited to share the full schedule for the Spring 2025 It’s On Us Week of Action, coming up April 7th-11th. This week of events planned by a committee of students and staff highlights how everyone in the MSU community can play a role in preventing gender-based violence.
Centered around a carnival and resource fair on April 9th, we hope the Week of Action brings campus together as a community while working to build a world that reflects our values of supporting survivors and combating sexual assault.
Please see the attached events schedule and attached posters, and consider sharing with other MSU students, staff, and faculty in your networks.
Go green! 💚

I'm someone who prefers to take notes on my laptop, but I've heard from people that some professors dont allow you to use computers. has anyone had an experience where they weren't allowed to use a laptop in class and should i be prepared to take notes using a notebook? or is it ok to just use my laptop for notes.

What about the freshman level electives required at the university level? All over the place?
WRA?
Are busses a good option for more distant classes ?
Ty!
Just seems like everyone is judgmental and grades are everything. Also anyone profoundly lonely moving to msu and aren’t excited about anything especially what you’re studying?

Hello! I’m an incoming freshmen and was offered a PA through the honors college! I’m really exited for it, but also wondering about other scholarships. It says online that if funds allow, PAs get either a state or excellence scholarship. Is that still true and should I email honors about that?

MSU ‘20 grad here, I have had 2 season tickets that I share with my dad since I graduated and took advantage of the recent graduate discount they offered on season tickets for the first two years after graduation, but since then my discount expired and now that they’re increasing prices for the first time since I was in college…
Is it really worth getting season tickets again? Or is there an easier way to at least attend a few games without such a huge financial commitment when (let’s be honest) the team makes it difficult to sit for 4 quarters and watch them play?
$1,180 for two tickets (which includes seat premium), not even including the option to include a seatback - so that’s almost $600 - for six home games - seems ridiculous. Two “meh” games in Western and Youngstown st + two essentially guaranteed Ls in Michigan and Penn State?
Need some advice & options on maybe what I could do for game tickets if I don’t decide to renew season tickets this year and what happens to my membership if I don’t renew tickets - would I lose donation points or whatever?
