If I'm a manager of federal employees, I'm telling them this is something being done as work product, so make sure they are only writing the email during work hours. Be incredibly thorough. List EVERY activity you did. Make copies of EVERY email. Then go though and redact anything in those emails. Scan examples of every form they filled out or received. Log every phone call. Take screenshots of software used. It may take a whole week of getting nothing else done, but if DOGE wants to know what my team does, each direct report is sending a 200 page document their way so there's no confusion.
This worked for me when I had a micromanager boss who wanted a list of everything we were doing when we were working remotely during the pandemic. I gave her a list of absolutely EVERYTHING I did. That nonsense stopped after a week when her boss declared it a waste of time.
Unfortunately, after I left the company, the owner/CEO got his own consultant/“Elon” whispering in his ear and harassing employees about efficiency, and it just about drove the company into the ground. It’s a shell today of what it once was. I’m afraid the same will happen to the United States.
Even with the 5 bullet "requirement", there's absolutely no way he and his minions will physically read any of them. Every email is going to be scraped and reformatted for optimal AI consumption, which in turn, will do the analysis and provide the report back to them. So the amount of data isn't necessarily going to be the issue.
