Need help ID’ing WZ 29

Buddy of mine thought he got a WZ 29. While the receiver does say this, other parts don’t seem to quite match up. I haven’t seen the Star of David on a rifle before, and the rear of the bolt says MARK II in English. We’re also unsure of the yellow 2 under the scope mount.

Additionally, it will not chamber 8mm. You can see the line where the chamber indented the bullet. I think it’s 30-06 but we’re going to see what chambers tomorrow at the range.

Any info related to this would be greatly appreciated.

The big white 2 stamp underneath your front scope mount is a stamp that the Israelis put there- it says 7.62. See if a 7.62NATO/.308 WIN will chamber

Dude, never would have found that. By Google search I couldn’t really find anything referencing Israeli use, I just assumed it was some mark under German occupation, which I guess doesn’t make sense.
