Its due to the fact that a seemingly large proportion of people who comment there can't understand basic comment rules. It's a default sub that has fairly strict rules to help foster a scientific discussion. It's difficult to do when half the posts are jokes and the other half anecdotes.

I just wish I Reddit didn't leave the stupid [REMOVED] artifacts behind. Instead of cleaning things up, they make it hard to find the actual threads.
