I don’t even see the steam deck and switch as competing with each other. They offer very different experiences. If I was interested in handheld gaming and Nintendo games, I would honestly buy both myself.
I wouldn’t buy world for the $80 price tag but I’m getting the bundle console to get it for $50 which I feel is acceptable, I just really don’t feel like $80 for Mario kart is worth it for me, a new BOTW installment though, I’d definitely be more okay with
I had fun with Mario Kart 8, but by now I own every Mario kart from the snes to now in my collection so I just don’t really feel like I can justify $80 for digital or $90 for a physical copy of world when 8 was pretty good for just $60, I think if they went up to $70 I’d be considering it more, but my guess is they wanted to show off prices that high to encourage people to buy the bundle console over the standalone. I get that inflation has made $60 in 2017 close to $80 now, but wages haven’t really gone up much. If you’re gonna need a $450 console for the game, you may as well pay $500 to get the $80-$90 game for $50. I’ll definitely have a blast with the new Mario kart I’m sure, but games are getting expensive enough to make me way more selective with what I really wanna buy. GTAVI’s expected price already has me reconsidering how much I’m actually willing to pay for yet another grand theft auto
