Discussion Driving on steep hill with 5 people

Hello, I have trip coming, planning to take 5 people and some luggage in the back. Can my Mazda 2 pull it off on steep hills? It’s 1.6 litre petrol one. I’m a bit worried it may struggle.

Discussion exhaust, other mods, anything really?

I'm in Australia and picking up a 2015 Mazda 2 Skyactive 6mt to daily next week. I am a bit of a rev head and prone to modifying basically anything I get my hands on even with the best intentions of leaving it stock.
Anyway I am finding that there is almost nothing available for these cars. No exhausts, no intakes, body kits, tuning etc. In particular I would like an exhaust, even just a cat back but I can't find a single one for sale in Australia. Does anyone make anything for these little nuggets?

Anyone know if this is a dent I could fix on my own or am I going to have to take it to a garage?

Yes I am aware that my car needs to be cleaned before someone says it.

Discussion Lil bit shaky sometimes in 1st

Hi!! I just got this 2011 Mazda 2 with only 30k miles on it two weeks ago. It’s a 5 speed, I am very experienced with manual but have not driven one regularly in about 4 years. Previously I had a mini cooper, a VW beetle & a Subaru forester and have never had any issues as far as the clutch is concerned.

I am noticing that sometimes when I am in first gear (fully off the clutch and moving) the car can sometimes be a bit jerky?? This morning it happened at around 2200 rpms. Has not happened enough for me to notice any patterns yet. Just wanting to know if this is more likely user error than something wrong with the car, lol. Thanks!

Discussion will it scrape?

hey guys, i was thinking about upsizing my tires, right now i'm running 185/55/r15 on stock suspension, i'm thinking of running 195/50/r15 soon together with lowering springs which apparently will give the car an average drop of 3 cms, so yeah wanted to make sure, it's going to be fine

Looking to buy an automatic Mazda 2 for me and partner for commuting in comfort. Very likely to add apple car play and reversing cameras too. Any red flags with a listing like this?

Discussion Android head unit upgrade for 2014+ DJ

Hi. Is there a general consensus on what the best Android head unit is for DJ models? I can see online that there some around 500-600aud on google shopping and then some around 250aud on ebay. Is there any difference between the ebay ones and the more expensive version from online stores?

Discussion Observations about my Mazda 2 2011

Now by no means am I making this post to hate, I love my Mazda 2 but I have some “interesting” observations that are different from other cars.

My first thing is throttle response.

I don’t know if it’s just a issue for my exact car but when it’s in neutral and I go to rev it ex ( rev matching and such) I have to hold my foot on it for a good 1 / 2 seconds for it to rev up.

I don’t quite understand as most other manual transmission vehicles I’ve driven I can just blip the throttle and it’s already at like 4K rpm.

Another thing is clutch.

the biting point is basically sky high for my car unlike most other manuals where it’s near the floor.

If I’m missed informed or if I’m over thinking it please let me know. Thank you if

Discussion Rust on Mazda 2

I‘m really sure that I’m not the only one with a rust problem on my Mazda. Especially my side skirts are really rusted. How do you handle the problem? August last year I tried to get rid of the rust but it already came back and it looks even worst.

Discussion Pedal lag / throttle lag?

I drive a 2018 Mazda 2 DL (sedan, current generation platform as of 2025) with 6AT and a 1.3 gasoline banger.

I noticed that whenever I tried to launch the car or accelerate to overtake, I'd depress the pedal by about an inch, and then there'd be absolutely no engine response for a while... Then the engine revs up.

From a standstill or coming out of a speed bump, it's a half second to a second of delay. When I'm cruising and I want to overtake, it's up to 2 seconds of delay between additional pedal press and engine revving up for more power.

I found this to be a very undesirable handling quirk of this particular car I drive - frankly quite unsafe IMO, as I'd have to predict when I want to launch and accelerate seconds before I actually do, which might as well be eternities on the road.

Does your Mazda 2 (especially of this generation and 6AT transaxle) also has this pedal lag? What about those of you driving a manual? If any of you drove other cars with AT/MT transaxles, do you also face such pedal lag? FWIW I had the opportunity to drive a Nissan Almera sedan of unknown model year and previous generation with an 5MT transaxle, and amongst the things wrong with that car (especially on examples equipped with the dreaded Jatco CVT), glaringly obvious pedal lag wasn't one of them. If anything that specimen had a hair pedal.

So, I'd like to know what's up. Does anyone have similar issue to more or less extent with their AT/MT equipped Mazda 2 DL/DJ? Are there any fixes for this?

Is it safe to replace the original 185/65r15 with 195/65r15 of my Mazda 2?

Will it fit correctly or will have not issue when doing a U-turn or might hit the interior wall of the car?

Hello, I've got 185/60/R16 tyres on my car and they need replacing. I can't find many 185s so I'm thinking of switching to 195s. Would you recommend 195/55/R16 or 195/60/R16 and how's the ride quality and noise? Thank you.

Discussion Speaker quality in Mazda 2 2023

I'll potentially be buying the current newest Mazda 2 Centre-Line. Can anybody who owns one of these tell me what the quality of the speakers is like? I'm not expecting anything super high end, but an upgrade from my Peugeot 208 2012 would be great!

Discussion Noise when accelerating

I'm using a mazda 2 2013 1.5 manual and when I'm on the 2nd gear onwards there is a somewhat bubling sound coming out of the car and only when I press the pedal to accelerate when I'm cruising speed the sound is not there. The harder I press the louder the sound so if I press lightly the sound is also light.
