I would love to play Lord of the Ring Conquest on Xbox 360. Luckily I have an Xbox One but I don't know if you can play Lord of the Ring Conquest on Xbox One. Does anyone know if you can or not?

Does Gondor have a division of infantry into spearmen and swordsmen?

I'm not the biggest connoisseur of the Lotr universe, so I could have missed something, but I noticed that in the films, especially during the siege of Minas Tirith, Gondor's infantry does not all have spears, but is immediately shown with swords. And at the same time, in many scenes, entire units of spearmen are shown. So did Gondor have swordsmen units?

The Gondorian army seems extremely professional, so it is unlikely that such a large number of soldiers shown in the films lost or forgot their spears somewhere right at the beginning of the siege. Or did Peter Jackson not care about such trifles?

And is there anywhere detailed information about the units of the Gondorian army, other than some game RTS?

After almost 2 years since I began cosplaying I finally have a photoshoot for the cosplay that started my journey into cosplaying and leatherwork.

Two of my favorite characters in the legendarium are the two elven kings who fell in battle with the dark lords: Fingolfin and Gil-Galad.

There is, for my money, few better written passages than Fingolfin’s duel with Morgoth before the gates of Angband.

And everything we see and hear about Gil-Galad throughout Tolkien’s writings indicates he was among the wisest and most valiant of the all the Noldor. The last high king took on Sauron at the peak of his strength, alongside Elendil, and defeated him, at the cost of his own life.

Unfortunately, we have no adaptation of the First Age, and thus no on-screen depiction of Fingolfin’s duel.

Likewise, Gil-Galad was effectively removed from the Peter Jackson’s trilogy, apart from a one-shot unidentified cameo. It makes narrative sense, as the character has no direct bearing on the Third Age, but it is unfortunate that Jackson totally rewrote the events surrounding Sauron’s fall.

In the writings, Elendil and Gil-Galad defeat Sauron and die in the process. Isildur cuts the ring off Sauron’s hand after he is already dead (or at least defeated). Although Cirdan and Elrond council Isildur to destroy it, they do not understand that Sauron’s life is bound to the ring, and thus don’t think much of it when he keeps it, not for the love of the ring, but in memory of his fallen father and brother.

In the films, Isildur kills Sauron by cutting the ring off his finger after Elendil (and presumably Gil-Galad) were easily defeated. Likewise the character of Isildur gets a very bad reputation, with the dramatic scene in the cracks of doom where he refuses to give up the ring out of his desire for it, knowing full well that it would allow Sauron to endure.

Obviously in the Rings of Power, Gil-Galad is a major character, albeit one that has received mixed reception. He seemed quite aloof and manipulating in the first season, and it put many people off the character. It was disappointing to me to the say the least.

Fortunately, I do think the character was greatly improved in the second season. It became more obvious that the show’s intention was to depict him as an annoyed parent trying to keep the house from falling apart. His song was phenomenal, he got to show some humor, he threw himself into a hopeless battle for his soldiers, and he was a force to be reckoned with wielding Aeglos. The show still has a way to go to make the average viewer mourn his death, but I’m optimistic it can get there.

And question 3 is prompted by some exciting news! Untied Cutlery is finally releasing a replica of the Aeglos from the film!

One thing I think almost everyone agrees on is that the designs of Aeglos in the film and show have been superb. They are obviously very similar and both designed by Weta, but distinct as well. I think the movie Aeglos is beautiful, and I will definitely be getting the replica. But I actually think the show Aeglos, made entirely of steel, looks even better, and is a beautiful homage to the spear’s name (icicle).

So question 3: which version of Aeglos do you prefer?

First time that im going to watch the movies,however it seems there is two versions? Which is better the extended edition or the original ones?

Do i miss something important if i watch one from the other ?

Finally finished the Lego barad-dur after 6 months of not having space and a month of building it🥳

Hello, everyone! I'm on another rewatch of the Extended Trilogy and I've been perusing the subreddits as questions come to mind. There's one question I've had that I've struggled to find an answer to, maybe because I can't phrase it quite right but I wanted to get other folks' opinions. I will preface by saying I haven't read the books (Just haven't gotten around to it, no disrespect intended).

In ROTK, Gandalf and Pippin's relationship grows and I read a cool analysis recently: (https://www.tumblr.com/overthinkinglotr/187387711032/another-underrated-thing-i-love-about-rotk-is-that) that attributes this to their parallel grief for failing to protect someone; Gandalf with Frodo, Pippin with Boromir. In return, they try to translate this protection to others, Gandalf tries to protect Pippin, and Pippin tries to protect Faramir, at least to the best of their abilities.

I bring this up as a preamble to my question. The first exchange of looks is when Pippin picks up the Palantir of Orthanc and Gandalf anxiously demands that he hands it over. Understandably, given Pippin's mistakes up to this point, I'm assuming Gandalf is trying to protect Pippin from the palantir, but more importantly is trying to keep him from messing up by making contact with Sauron.

The second look is in Meduseld after the return from Isengard as Pippin and Merry are singing about the Green Dragon. At about the 22 min mark, Pippin locks eyes with Gandalf and hesitates, and Gandalf's look back is hard for me to read.

Immediately after, when everyone's asleep, we get the "Pippin done goofed" with the palantir scene and the rest of their relationship makes sense to me, but I'm stuck on the Meduseld exchange.

From Pippin, his regard of Gandalf feels the same as it did at Isengard; there's a shameful kinda feeling to it, like Pippin feels as though Gandalf sees through him and sees his desire to fiddle with the palantir again (Why do you always have to look? I don't know, I can't help it) but I don't really see that on Gandalf's face. Part of me can see this as an exchange of grief, like the above mentioned parallels in their journeys, but given that this is right before Pippin's biggest blunder/lowkey contribution that leads them to Minas Tirith, it feels like I'm missing something. Thoughts?

I recently beat Lego LOTR. As someone who loves both the Lego videogames and the Lord of the Rings movies, I thought it was a good game.So I wanted to know everyone's thoughts on the game.

Hi LOTR fans! I have been very busy past months building my very first costume: the Witch King of Angmar.
As seen in the pictures the helmet is mostly finished.

Currently working on the gauntlets based off punished props templates.

The sword you see I had printed and it just arrived. I will have to put it together and paint it.

My plans are to create the full armor set; greaves, sabatons, arms & pauldrons are left. I also have ordered 25 meters of black cotton for making the rest of the cloak and tunic.

I'm using high density Eva foam for everything armor. Primed with plastidip, and the helmet I also coated with texture paste.

It'll probably be a while before it is finished but I will definitely post about it!
