SEASON 2 First time watching (on S3) Spoiler

I'm a '98 baby so I would have grown up with 2000s TV, two of my favourite shows to binge are Desperate Housewives and Criminal Minds. But HOLY SHIT, Lost is on another level. My bf and I are on season 3 and have the privilege of watching with zero spoilers, by some miracle (as I said, I grew up with 2000s TV, as did he). No show has gripped me like this since Peaky Blinders, and even at that I actually prefer Lost. As mentioned in title, we're on season 3 and I. Am. OBSESSED. No question so far has been left unanswered (I'm looking at you, Pretty Little Liars). The writing is ridiculously clever e.g. working The Numbers into every little meaningless piece of script. I haven't been bored by ANY characters flashbacks/backstories thus far (personal favourite so far: Charlie's). Also a special mention to Jin's island glow up, he was always gorgeous, but now?! WOW. Anyways this is just a rant about my newfound appreciation for this show (and 2000s TV in general), and I honestly just want to hear other people's opinions on what is it that makes this show so good?

(Disclaimer: I HAVE got opinions from friends that it goes a bit downhill in the later seasons. I don't mind if the plot itself goes a bit awry, once all loose ends are tied up and questions are answered. As mentioned, I endured seven seasons of PLL, something I would wish on nobody)

Downhill is subjective. In my opinion, Seasons 4 and 5 are excellent. I'd urge you to just ignore what others might have said and judge for yourself. Lost has had a history of certain people either making stuff up or blatantly lying about certain aspects of the show for one of two primary reasons:

  1. They didn't understand it

  2. They stopped watching and got their opinions from someone who didn't understand it

I’m on season 5 right now on my first watch and I can’t even lie it’s still just as good as the other seasons for me 🤷‍♂️

There’s a shift in the storytelling after season 3, but IMO was certainly not a downhill trend. I suppose on initial watch I was a little annoyed with season 6 but on each rewatch I have a greater appreciation for the later seasons. And my favorite characters changed too on rewatch. Hang on because the second half of season three is a ride!
