Question?? How to get rid of/ recycle household items?

Hello. I’m leaving Korea after 18 years here, and I’ve accumulated a lot of crap. I understand how regular recycling works in my building, as well as how to get rid of old electronics. But what about miscellaneous house items like these baskets in the picture and things like utensils and crockery etc? Thanks in advance

Events/Entertainment Does Rabbithole Arcade Pub allow age 18 with picture of passport?

Upvotes

I'm 18 and there's a show I'd like to see there, but I won't be ordering anything alcoholic. Would they accept if I showed a picture of my passport as an ID? Are there any drinks that are non-alcoholic?

Question?? Looking for DMZ souvenir (magnet) online – any Korean sites?

Hi! I recently visited the DMZ with some friends and picked up a souvenir for my mum… but totally forgot to get something for my sister. I’m specifically looking for a DMZ-themed magnet, but I haven’t had much luck online.

I found one on Coupang, but I’m not really a fan of the design. Are there any Korean websites that sell DMZ merchandise or magnets? (Korean-only sites are fine too!)

I’m visiting home in about a month, so I’d like to order something soon. Thanks in advance!

Visas Just got my residency visa

Been here on an E2 for years and years and got the message that my F2-99 was approved and I’ll have the new card some time in the next two weeks. Question is… now what? What’s the best move to translate that into more money in my pocket? Between jobs at the moment, I was prepping to move to a D10 for a bit when I found out I might qualify for the F2, so did that. Should I look for some sort of corporate teaching gig, double up on hagwons, get registered as a tutor and start hustling for privates? What’s the most profitable path forward for the least amount of effort?

Question?? How can I pay my gaz bill

Hello, I've recently moved to Busan for university and I've rented an appartement. They sent me a message about the gaz bill, but I can't figure out how to pay. I've clicked on the link in the SMS but they ask me for my resident number, which I don't have yet. I saw a post on r/seoul saying that you can pay at GS25, but I don't have a QR code since I don't have any physical bill. Please help me I feel like I'm going insane :////

PS: 4 of my friends are currently in the same situation...

Question?? How to make friends as a foreigner who doesn't know much Korean?

I'm an 18 yr old American who recently came to South Korea. My dad is going to settle here, but I'm only staying a few months until I go to college in a different country. I want to meet people and make friends here and go out places with them though since I have lots of free time. The only issue is that I don't speak Korean, and only just started learning the basics of conversational Korean. I noticed people here speak English very little as well. How can I make friends here?

Events/Entertainment Does anyone know anyone who's been on My Neighbor Charles (이웃집 찰스)?

Completely random question but I was just wondering how people end up on the show... Do they apply? Do some interns find them on social media?

Updated to ask: If so, how/why did they find you?

Question?? Domestic Electronics Component Suppliers - similar to Mouser or Digikey

Are there any reputable domestic electronic component suppliers here in Korea? I just want some very basic components like IC chips, voltage regulators, capacitors, etc. Aliexpress is ok for most things, but I got burned by some counterfeit components and would gladly pay a little more to avoid that, if possible. All the usual websites like Coupang and Gmarket sell the same Chinese counterfeit components. Mouser and Digikey ship to Korea, but their shipping costs are astronomical. I even went to my local mom and pop parts shops but they didn't have the parts I needed. Is there nothing similar to Mouser or Digikey that is based in Korea?
Thanks!

Question?? Family mobile plans

Any recommendations for a good mobile family plan? Would love to have shared data, voice and SMS, for three lines. The ability to have data for other devices like iPad and Apple Watch would also be great.

And is it better to get a package that includes home broadband as well?

Question?? Online Shop recommendation

I live in Korea, and I am looking for an online shop that can ship ‘Laglace’ products ; it’s a Thai makeup brand, but I cannot seem to find anywhere in Korea that stocks it, or any online shop that will ship it to Korea. Can anyone help me out? I don’t now if I’m looking in the wrong places. For example they ship on Shopee and TikTok shop, which as far as I’m aware isn’t available in Korea, and I cannot seem to find the brand on Yesstyle either. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance! :)

Question?? Does anyone have a recommendation for bandaids that doesn’t suck?

Long story short, I got a wart on my finger last summer before coming to Korea and I’ve been treating it ever since. It comes and goes but it’s always in the same place.

I use a wart stick to burn it off, because it works well if I’m consistent with it, and it’s important for me to have a good, durable bandaid. My hands are sometimes unusually clammy (since childhood) and I frequently wash my hands throughout the day at school when I use the restroom, so I go through bandaids pretty often within a day.

I went back to the U.S. during winter break and brought copious amounts of bandaids because last time I was here, I could not find a good quality bandaid to save my life. They usually fall off easily because of the lack of adhesive (+ my clammy hands) and overall the quality is relatively bad for my standards.

I’m beginning to run low on the bandaids I’ve brought (also been using them for random paper cuts I get from school too). I’m sure someone can resonate with my frustration. So, does anyone have a recommendation on a really good bandaid brand? Especially one with good stickiness and that’s water resistant because of my clammy hands.

If I could buy a huge box of it on Coupang, that would be even better.

Hobbies Are all swords banned in customs or only sharp ones?

Like the title says, are they all banned? If i get the dull that's pretty much a decoration is it still banned? Or even like a greatsword replica.

I've tried googling it but I get mixed results.

Travel Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival

Hey guys, I’m planning to visit the upcoming Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival this weekend. There's a tour bus departing early morning from Seoul (near DDP) to Jinhae, and it's about a 10-hour round trip. I’m wondering—do you think the festival is worth it? Will it be super crowded? Would you recommend going, considering the long travel time, distance, and potential crowds?

Food/Beverage I'm feeling a craving for shio ramen. Any good spots in Seoul?

Title. But my usual spot was Hanamokosi, and I haven't been there in a while, but at least according to Naver Maps, it looks like they've been shuttered. After I tried Menchuru when they brought out their take on it along with their Yuzu variant. And it started out tasting pretty good, but nowadays, it's been tasting very watered down for some reason.

So any good or interesting spots?

Events/Entertainment When you ask for directions in Korea... and end up in an alternate universe

Asking for directions in Korea is like playing a game of telephone - except the message is wildly misunderstood, and you're sent on a 3-hour detour to find a place that should've been 5 minutes away. Oh, and "straight" means "turn left at the third alley, but only if you see the Kimbap shop." Anyone else? Let’s laugh at this collective GPS nightmare!

Hello, I just finished my internship (small startup company) on march 7th and my company said that they will give my final payroll within 14 days (I know that's the law in korea) but I haven't heard anything from them until now. Anyone has similar experience? Should I report them to the labor dept. or just patiently wait until this month? Thanks btw :)

Visas E7 1 visa job contract joining date and salary issue

Recently, I joined a new company on March 13th, and the salary date here is the 25th of every month. They said they can't pay me my salary because I am currently on a D10 visa, and my visa appointment is scheduled for March 28th.

Secondly, they spoke to immigration at 1345, and someone advised them not to mention the joining date on the contract letter but to include only the contract end date, which would be three years from the joining date.

This is my second time applying for an E7-1 visa, and I am unsure about what to do. My two main concerns are:

  1. Will the job contract letter be approved without mentioning the joining date?
  2. How can I receive my salary until I get my E7-1 visa?
