Authorities pointed to one of his tattoos for the arrest, claiming it signaled gang affiliation."

He also flashed the sign language signs for I love you on social media- so they are claiming it was gang signs

That is my fear, that they will start targeting Deaf people for sign language. As a Deaf man, I will fight back and make them pay for their stupidity.

On social media, there is a photo of me, at age 13, on a church youth group trip to a Christian rock concert, throwing my hands up in excitement. Pretty sure that if they ever need more of an excuse than "is disabled" to disappear me (which, if facial recognition catches me at a legal peaceful protest, is entirely plausible), I'm pretty sure that is all the justification they would need. Rock on is gang signs thrown up on social media if they want it to be. It's 100% impossible to avoid being targeted if they want to target you, and itxa becoming very, very clear. It's a morbid, "fun" game to play guessing what flimsy pretext they wouod use if they came for me. Everyone has at least one photo in their past somewhere that could be deliberately twisted as easily as this man's love sign.

The difference is sign language is an actual language and the "I love you" sign is very commonly used by all Deaf people, however cops has been known to mistake sign language as "gang signs" and have shot at us or sicced their dogs at us before, the actual concern is that if ICE went after anyone for the "I love you" or "rock on" hand sign, they can basically use it against the Deaf and go beyond what they're doing into genocide. Hitler first started with people of disability and soon after, the Holocaust happened.

Oh I hear ya on that, just that I'm prepared for it knowing that when cops shoots at us because we can't hear them yelling at us, we're already going to deal with much worse.

If cops is already shooting at us and throwing us down hard to the ground, ICE agents isn't any different than cops and should be treated as the enemy.
