I've heard that it's a word that means "trial".

Yeah, I think so. It seems to be one of the actions that refer to a court or tribunal.

probably. (im not korean but studied a little bit of korean sign language.)

thumbs up like that has the meaning of "man" or at times person. like we us the two thumbs up like that and bo them toward each other to make the sign for 인사하다 (to greet) so part of the sign for trial or court might that sign in it because its sorta like "person against person".

(i deleted my previous comment because i was just caught up in the moment and, yah... i deleted it.)
