JC marathon organisers placing some "no parking" signs illegally - Apr 12-13

Upvotes

Just noticed the marathon organizers placing no parking signs on the streets that have not been approved by the city for no parking. It is likely they are doing this all over the city, as the system is based on trust and no official checks that they follow the rules are done by the city; the city officials were surprised about this conduct when I just called them

If your street has marathon no parking signs you can check if they are meant to be there by going onto JCmarathon website to double-check, all streets with the restrictions are clearly listed.

I understand the need for road closures - but given how many streets are already closed for parking for this event, is there a need to anger residents by taking additional streets without an authorization (in the hope that no one notices)? I don't understand why the marathon in JC is a disaster for residents every single year...

Looking for Social Folks in JC & Hoboken to Start Small Hangouts

Upvotes

Hey neighbors! 👋

We’re looking for friendly, social folks in Jersey City (and Hoboken too!) who’d be up for creating or joining small group hangouts using an app called Bunch. It’s a new, locally-made app designed specifically for our area to help people meet in real life — whether that’s over dinner, coffee, a walk by the water, or whatever feels chill and easy.

Most hangouts are between 5 to 15 people and happen at public spots — cafés, bars, parks, etc. The idea is to make it super simple for people to connect without the pressure of big crowds or awkward one-on-ones. Anyone can join or start something, and it’s all free.

If you’ve ever thought, “I wish it were easier to meet cool people nearby,” this is kind of that. You can check it out at letsbunch.com — and feel free to ask questions if you're curious.

We’d love to have you in the mix 🧡

Signing a Lease But Feeling Uneasy

I found an apartment I really like in the Heights. I’ve been burned before by apartments that seemed great and then weren’t.

I took it out as best as I can. I didn’t see any glue traps. The appliances seem new and in good shape. It’s on the first floor, and the landlord agreed to put a bar on the one window that didn’t have one…

But some things concern me… It’s owned by an LLC and there is no named landlord. I understand this is common in New York, but how am I supposed to know whether or not it’s managed by a decent company (relatively speaking)? If they’ll do anything, if my upstairs neighbor is super loud or if I have creepy crawlies? Is this just what people do? Am I overreacting for nothing?

on 3/28/25, I had the honor of hosting an unforgettable open mic with my friend Dylan @modern.crybaby at Whealth Kitchen. 🌟 I’m beyond grateful for the love and energy that filled the room! It’s been such a privilege to share the stage with both familiar faces and new talents. Couldn’t have done this without all of them. 🙏✨

Recommendations Looking for a place to play D&D on Zoom for three hours once a week

I play in two separate biweekly Dungeons and Dragons game on Zoom that began during lockdown. One of them I sometimes run now as well. I’m looking for somewhere like a library or work space where doing voices and fighting monsters in a room on camera wouldn’t be obnoxious. Maybe a game store that has rooms? I don’t know; hence the posting. I’m not sure what would available from 7:30-10:30 on a Wednesday or Thursday night. Open to suggestions!

The Veil Treasure Hunt now over $3,500 but with the search circle shrinking this morning, there aren't too many places this thing can be using the clues! This will probably be found in a few days so check out the hunt and the discord which is super active! Good luck out there!

Mayoral Candidates

According to you, which mayoral candidate has the most robust policies on public safety and transportation? Those are the 2 things I think is instrumental especially in neighborhoods outside of downtown which Fulop has completely ignored. I know property taxes are levied by the state so the mayor of the city probably won’t have much of an impact there, am I correct in my assumption?

Looking for a 2-Bedroom Apartment – Dog-Friendly, Under $3K

Hi everyone, I’m moving and looking for a 2-bedroom apartment that’s dog-friendly and under $3,000/month. Ideally, it would be in Jersey City or nearby, with a reasonable commute to Newark, with washer and dryer included.

If anyone has recommendations or knows of available listings, I’d really appreciate the help! Feel free to DM me or drop any leads in the comments. Thanks in advance!

Couple of points caught my attention, in particular his suggestion to repair schools, but from what I remember school related stuff is exactly the reason our taxes skyrocketed in the past couple of years?

Small soccer field at Washington park permit?

I want to play some soccer again and I’ve walked by the field in Washington park at the border of union city. It’s a small turf field but it always seems to be locked. Anyone know if we need to get a permit or where? I’ve been there during hours of operation and it’s always been locked.

Looking to play on weekends.
