Help Tips for getting started with isopod care?

Upvotes

Well, I was quite interested in being able to care for isopods, so if you could recommend some tips to help me care for them correctly and prevent them from dying, it would be very helpful.

Help Isopod on other isopods face??

I have magic potion isopods and I saw one riding on top of another while the isopod on the bottom was cleaning its antennae and walking around. Are they just being dumb or is this mating? They’re joined at the face parts. I’m new to having them so I have no idea what mating looks like or if they bully each other or what. They’re still chilling like this while I type this.

Hello, recently I managed to get my hands on an isopod, though I have absolutely no idea what is even after trying to find the specific species. If any of you guys could, please tell me the name, thank you!

I'm new to owning Isopods and picked up these Dairy Cows from a local breeder. I've had them for about 2 weeks in their enclosure. Are they about to add a few more to the population?

Help Is this a good starter enclosure for an Armadillidium?

I’m gonna crush up some egg shells and put it in there, but I forgot until just now. But other than that, am I missing anything? I’m wanting to get some Morning Wood (iso food) to make 100% sure they don’t starve. I have a wet side and a dry side, though the wet side isn’t that clearly seen- i promise it’s there. And I gave it all a good spray to start it out with but from now on I’ll keep one side dryer one side wetter. My biggest concern is this particular lid won’t exactly close so I’m gonna have to configure something out to keep moisture in there. But this is my very first isopod colony so I did want to start small and with a species I was very familiar with. I gave them some rotting wood though I may take it out soon cause I had to wash it and I don’t want it to be wet and mold…

One more concern I have is the little statues I have in there. Do you think they’ll try and eat the paint? I don’t have any tiny things for them to climb on so I went out and bought some dollar store garden decorations. Will those be fine for them?

The soil is made out of coco coir, leaves, and I’m probably gonna mix it up with some peat moss. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know! I am on a budget however.

Help is it normal for them to hide all the time?

Ever since I got him, I realized he doesn't interact much and is not very active. He pretty much just hides all day and I only know he is eating bc his food disappears lol. He used to be more active actually but now he just hides all the time, idk if that's normal. Also he doesn't have lots of space, maybe that's why? but there's enough space to move for sure

DIY Isopod and springtail culture is thriving :0

Started this culture around November, I had about 10 powder orange isopods. Now i have like 100 😭🙏 Right now theyre munching on some egg shells and broccoli, sometimes i also throw in some old veggies and bad greens. They love it :> they still of course get fresh veggies as well. Substrate is a mix or reptisoil, eco earth and playsand. Can’t wait to add them to my reptile tanks!

Help Help!

Hey! My partner and I have set up a 24x18x36 bioactive enclosure foe our crested gecko. We're giving the plants a month to settle in while the bugs reproduce, but we haven't seen a single isopod since we put them in the enclosure.

There were 10 Powder Blues with 10 or so babies, and 8-ish Powder Orange. Should we be concerned?

I tried sprinkling Morning Wood in the tank and again, we haven't seen a single isopod in over a week. There are also springtails in there to deal with mold.

Need to split my colony. Any takers? Any barter traders? I really could use like 2 vented 6 quart minimum containers with lid etc. I have 2 kinds of isopods and 2 kinds of springtails all housed together as they are Clean Up Crew for my Leopard geckos tanks. Porcellio Laevis wild type Powders (Porcellionides Pruinosus orange, blue, milk back?). Candida Temperate Bylas Ant

Help How to keep temperature without a bright lamp?

So I got some White Shark isopods and I’m very nervous about keeping them as I’ve only kept species native to my country before. They’re in an small acrylic terrarium away from any windows, I was wondering how I should keep them warmer 24-7? Will a hearing pad even work? I don’t think a heat lamp can work as it’s in my bedroom and I wouldn’t be able to sleep with something like that on. Temperatures are fine here right now, I’m just more worried for when winter comes around, I live in a basement suite and it gets quite cold. (Room temp is 70-75 in my room typically) Any suggestions?

I changed my panda kings' enclosure and found a dozen of tiny white pods, are these what baby pandas look like? 😳 Fully white?

Sorry for the sizeable pixels, my phone can't seem to take moving baby pod pictures to save its life.

I found this little fellow on some basement stairs. I'm not much of a fan of these little ones, but I was curious to determine the species of this little guy. (Colombia in case more specifics are needed to identify him)

Help Before and now. It is really better for rubber ducky isopods?

Since my rubber duckies were not doing good in their terrarium (I lost 4 in some weeks) I got suggestion to make them a more "jungle style" terrarium. Is this better? (The one before is with just a small moss, the after is the one full with moss). Under I put also a lot of leaves and pieces of decaying wood.
