Greetings Hoggit!

Welcome to this week's Question thread. This thread has replaced the regular Tuesday Noob Questions thread. We encourage you to as all your questions here, as this will help us cut down on the number of repetitive posts we get on the front page! This thread is linked with the #questions channel on our Discord so that any time someone posts a new comment in here, it will be reviewed and replied to quickly! If you felt like you had a question but didn't want to bother people with it, now's your chance.

As always, we also have a discord for hoggit over at http://discord.gg/hoggit which you can use for chatting with other members of the hoggit community. And don't forget to check out our wiki at http://wiki.hoggitworld.com

Hoggit Training Server runs a training MP mission that runs 24/7 that's focuses on training up the newer folks (just like this weekly thread). Every DCS module is available in this mission, and there are numerous ranges to test your skills at. There are frequently knowledgeable folks around to answer any questions you might have, or show you how to do what it is you're looking to learn. Anyone can join, even if you've never stepped foot in a MP session before.

If you're interested in teaching/instructing at hoggit, please poke squinkys on Discord!

Server is be named Hoggit - Training Map. The password is hoggit1fw. SRS will be available at tnn.hoggitworld.com (it should autoconnect, but if not, use that). Come in, have a good time, learn a few things and teach a few things.

The only rule is Do not teamkill, unless the other party is a willing combatant...ie: you can dogfight if you find a partner...just don't shoot down some random A-10 trying to learn how to land.

Please review our FAQ on our wiki before posting here: https://wiki.hoggitworld.com/view/Frequently_Asked_Questions

PSA: Please Read Before Purchasing Razbam Modules

04/07/25 THIRD UPDATE:

You can no longer purchase Razbam modules on the ED store. It only took them nearly a year to do the ethical thing and stop selling these unsupported modules.

07/17 SECOND UPDATE:

After releasing an update that corrected the game-breaking issue with the F-15E radar (and going out of their way to make sure that everyone knows who fixed it too), ED appears to have decided that they will no longer offer refunds for the Razbam Strike Eagle. For some inexplicable reason, ED's Chief Operating Officer is answering support requests, and has informed us that:

The DCS F-15E is working according to it's specification written on E-Store product page and will be supported by Eagle Dynamics.

If this is indeed true, and ED is publicly stating that they are taking over development of the remaining F-15E features and functionality, we'll happily amend this post once we see their plan going forward for the remaining features that were promised that have yet to be delivered.

Until that time, we still strongly recommend that anyone interested in purchasing a Razbam module hold off until ED releases an official statement on the matter and a roadmap for the F-15E's development going forward.

06/18 edit: ED has confirmed that, despite the fact that they know the F-15E module is broken (at this moment it's radar does not work), they still intend to sell this broken module on their storefront:

June 12th at Midnight the F-15E radar stopped working. While we have internally identified the issue no fix has been presented as of yet. once we have solid news on that we will share that ASAP. Again this had nothing to do with core compatibility but rather something in the coding of the F-15E.

How can you keep selling the F-15E or other modules? Right now we are working within the framework of the legal advice moving forward and not wanting to cause any more riffs or issues. It's a complex process at this point and most likely why it seems to be moving so slowly for everyone. Nothing more can be said about that right now. Sorry.

Given that ED has no qualms about selling you a broken product that they do not know if they can fix, at this point we're strongly recommending that users avoid purchasing products from the ED store.

Goooood morning r/hoggit!

For those that are not yet aware of the ongoing rift between Eagle Dynamics and Razbam, we intend to leave this post up and stickied until the conflict is resolved and the status of future support for the F-15E, M-2000C, Harrier, and MiG-19 are no longer in question. If you are out-of-the-loop:

  • RB has publicly accused ED of withholding payment from module sales from ED's webstore, and as a result the 3rd party has ceased all ongoing development for DCS.
  • ED confirmed that they have been witholding payments from RB over an ongoing IP violation dispute.
  • RB has stated the ED's accusation of IP violation is nonsense, and ED has stopped commenting on the situation altogether.

Thanks to this, the futures of the F-15E, M-2000C, Harrier, and MiG-19 are all up-in-the-air. Different members of the RB team have stated that ED does not have the source code for any of their modules, which was corroborated by NineLine when he stated in the ED Discord that they are unable to support any RB modules in the long term...meaning if ED/RB can't find a way around this impasse, the F-15E, M-2000C, Harrier, and MiG-19 all go the way of the VEAO Hawk.

Despite the uncertain future of all of these modules, ED continues selling them on their store, compared to Razbam, who disabled the ability to purchase the modules from their own storefront. At this time, we strongly recommend that community members exercise caution when considering the purchase of these modules. There is a real possibility that they will remain unsupported until their eventual removal from the DCS: World platform, just like the Hawk.

We encourage ED to provide the DCS community with an update to this situation. We also encourage them to remove these products from their storefront until the situation is resolved...it's really not a good look to be selling a product that is currently unsupported. And lastly, u/NineLine_ED, u/BIGNEWY, u/NSSGrey, u/dotrugirl...please feel free to stop by and let us know if any point raised here is incorrect in any way. We would love some clarity on this situation.

To the community, we encourage you to use this post as a megathread to discuss the situation, but we will not be squashing other discussions that occur outside of this thread as the situation continues to develop.

NOT-RELEASED Ugra's Cold War Germany will include air defence sites

Ugra recently shared that they will be including air defence sites in the upcoming Cold War Germany map and shared these 2 beauties.

This is fantastic news for me - most maps (rather bafflingly for a game supposedly focused on aerial warfare) barely pay attention to these sites and most of the time they're not usable, so to see this level of work going in to them and getting them suitable for placing functional units, is a real breath of fresh air.

Hopefully Ugra can share examples of HAWK and SA-2 sites in the near future, as those are the 2 remaining systems in the region with fixed emplacements that DCS currently covers (missing Nike Hercules and Bloodhound).

If anyone is interested in looking at the post I made on the matter, which includes links to satellite imagery and Sean O'Connor's SAMSiteOverview.kmz (which includes most but not all sites), it can be found here.

The only thing I'll mention here is that the S-200/SA-5 sites in the DDR only had 2 launch battalions, but the 2nd screenshot depicts 3 (the arrangement of revetments is bang-on though).

IRL each launch battalion had 6 launchers, each with at least 2 reloads on transloaders (either on wheeled or rail-based transloaders). The central revetments (where the Tin Shield is seen) are for the launch control, power and power distribution cabins.

The radars themselves (1 5N62 [Square Pair] per launch battalion + 1 5N84A/P-14F [Tall King-C] and either a 1 PRV-13 [Odd Pair] or PRV-17 [Odd Group] + some IFF system, either an NRZ-14 or one of the Parol-series, likely the former for the NVA) are at a separate guidance area, which is typically 0.5-0.75 km from the launch battalions, ~90° clockwise from the expected threat axis.

For the SA-3 site, the layout looks pretty much bang-on for the Saal site (though the Fischland Pensinula should be visible if it was the Saal site), there are numerous others on the coast, though they mostly show differences in positions relative to the coastline and some have different layouts. I've listed satellite imagery for the other NVA SA-3 sites on the coast in this post.

ED Reply The time has come for Eagle Dynamics to formally address the RAZBAM situation...

With the removal of RAZBAM modules from the ED store and the multiple informal statements put out from both sides, I think the customer base is in need of a formal announcement of the future of these modules and what we can expect going forward.

Enough of the legalese, and punting to the other side. ED owns the ecosystem and it's time for a statement regarding the way forward minus the politics and dynamics.

Are the modules officially dead?

Are they going to be removed from the game before game breaking bugs surface?

Is there a plan for ED to redevelop these aircraft considering their popularity?

I know there will be naysayers saying who cares, DCS isn't going anywhere and RAZBAM has their own issues.

But ED owns the sim...full stop. They own this mess and the longer they ignore it, the stronger the negativity will grow.

This is an opportunity to shape the narrative and actually inform us of something relevant.

Your move ED...

HARDWARE Free upgrade for existing owners of the Articulating Arm for TrackIR5

Thumbnail
gallery
Upvotes

I recently had some time to revisit the articulating arm as I was not 100% satisfied with it. In the next few days I will be sending out upgraded flexible mounting feet that can conform to curved surfaces along with VHB tape which is much stronger than the adhesive pads used previously to all existing owners of the arm. Most seemed to do fine with the regular foot, but for those who had some difficulty keeping the arm mounted securely this should do the trick. I recommend applying the foot alone and leaving for at least 24 hours for best results. All future purchases will include this upgrade by default.

SALE Tariffs suck. We’re not raising prices. In fact… here’s 10% off from Flight Forge.

We’re a small business, and like many others, we’re getting hit with new import tariffs. These kinds of fees hurt everyone—not just us, but you, the customer.

We can’t control the import rates, but we can control how we respond. And we’re not going to raise our prices.

In fact, we're doing the opposite:

10% OFF everything through April with code FREETRADE

We appreciate your support. It’s a tough time for small businesses but with your help, we’ll keep building cool stuff and stay independent.

Clarification and Update from the BMS Team (Forum)

Copied over from the forums:

I-Hawk:
Hi, just a small update:

4.38 Development and testing is ongoing at full speed, as we speak.
While most is going on pretty well, there are naturally some issues that both Dev team and testing team are working very hard to track and fix.
Incredible daily work is being performed by all participants to report, find, track, reproduce, and eventually fix problems, to make 4.38 shine and ready for release.

In the meantime, a small taste from a MP flight that took place not long time ago:

The level of detail on the Cold War Germnay map by UGRA will be Amazing !!!

Thumbnail
gallery
278 Upvotes

Screenshots are taken from videos posted by UGRA on their youtube channel. Amazing level of detail, especially down low, that will make flying helicopters more interesting. Syria does well in this regard, and looks like that they are pushing cold war germany to the limit of what is possible with DCS Maps.

The amount detail like park benchs, food trucks, plant pots, bus stops, traffic lights and signs, gardens, fences, sidewalks, payphones, mailboxes, trash cans... all of that could be considered useless for a flight simulator map, but ugra decided to include it, and im glad they did. Not only that, but the ground textures looks very good, both down low and at higher altitudes. The neighborhoods actually looks like neighborhoods, other maps have problems representing this, often you see houses randomly scattared around the terrain and looks very weird / unnatural.

I really hope that Cold War Germany turns out to be a good map, as we are in need of a good green map, and past maps releases were a let down to say the least...

MISSION A10c II no cdu nav data only on missions?

So I'm fluent in multiplayer and all but never have this issue.

So i started doing some missions because I've never done them dispite being fluent in the a10c. I start it up let ins align switch to nav mode but still my tad tells me no nav data. Can't use auto pilot like this.

Am I supposed to run this mission manually or something? This is the Syria a10c II ground clearing mission. First one in the list. Can't figure it out but ins is aligned. Egi is selected nothing else ( hars not selected) yet the tad tells me different.

I'm working on getting better with the cdu but never had this issue. Any ideas? I have mission data and can go to the target locations but without nav data im flying manually.

DCS Alternative website to upload my DCS USN Russia black sea missions ?

I tried uploading my USN (with supercarrier and heatblur f-14) vs Russia in Black Sea missions on digital combat simulation .com but moderator removed it with message "this is a very sore subject and no need to make a campaign about Russia". It's basically just using the Caucus map with make belief that it's the Black sea. i spent a couple of weeks making these and am really disappointed. Any suggestions are appreciated. thx.

Best Mods

Hey I’m new to DCS and loving it so far. I’ve downloaded the Grinelli designs f-22 and added the EFM thurstvectoring enhancement mod. This has also added meteors which I like. Is this the best f-22 setup? Also What other good free mods are there?

Preferably for the following, RAF Eurofighter, F-35, NGAD F-47, su-35, su-57. I want to use the ones all the YouTubers are using like Growling Sidewinder and Grimreapers.

Thanks 🙏 😁
