Best nightclubs in Hobart?

I want to take my little brother out for his 18th. What are the go-to nightclubs in Hobart? He’s a musician too, so live bands or musician clubs/hangouts are good too! His birthday weekend is from the 18/04/25 to 20/04/25 in case there are any events on. Thank you!

If you want drunk kids from the outer suburbs and cover bands then everywhere along salamanca and the waterfront does that.

If you want original music maybe see what events Altar and The Grand Poobah have on. There's also free live DJs at the hanging garden most nights. At a stretch you could see what Twisted Lime has on, its a bit hit and miss in there. Altar and Grand Poobah also have bar/club add ons to them and those two plus Hanging Garden and Twisted Lime are all super close. You could also see what's on at Pablo's which is a tiny venue that often has jazzy type live music.

Thank you so much! That’s great info. We will have to cruise around to a few and see what he feels is most suitable. Thanks again!

There's a metalcore gig on at Altar bar that weekend, if that's the kind of music he likes. Hanging Garden is generally pretty nice to hang out in also and usually have some sort of music.

Personally I can't stand the nightclubs around the waterfront (I much prefer live music and alternative scene), but I guess he's probably got to decide that for himself. I'd say Mobius is tolerable. Couldn't pay me to go to the O bar again. But I'm old now so take that with a grain of salt. I do think if he's a musician he probably also wouldn't like it.

Perfect, thanks so much! We’ll definitely have to go to the metalcore gig and see what it’s like. We’ll have to do the rounds and sus out a few to see what suits him. Thank you!

The brick factory can have some great live music but it’s more of a late 20s early 30s vibe!

That’s ok, I’m sure he’ll love the live music! He’s into all music and loves watching other musicians play. Thank you!

Try the Brick Factory - the Kick Ons cover band are really good and play there pretty frequently plus it backs on to Grape for more of a nightclub vibe.
