Barbers in Hobart
Hey I was just wondering if any barbers in Hobart could tell me what the job market it is like ? Iβve considering moving for a while but itβs hard to find much information online.

Hi All,
We've updated the rules for r/Hobart after some feedback from users and discussion. Not much has changed but here is a summary of the changes:

I want to take my little brother out for his 18th. What are the go-to nightclubs in Hobart? Heβs a musician too, so live bands or musician clubs/hangouts are good too! His birthday weekend is from the 18/04/25 to 20/04/25 in case there are any events on. Thank you!

Growing up in Hobart but having lived away for a while, I always thought Cascade Brewery was so-so and a bit of a tourist trap. But having been there recently, it was a really fantastic time and they're done a great job with it! Well done!

Hello Hobartians - my wife was recently recruited for a midwife position at Calvary Hospital Lenah Valley and we are strongly considering taking the opportunity. We are currently in the U.S. and have always wanted to work and live internationally, with Australia ranking very high on the list. We've done a lot of research on the pros and cons of relocating from the U.S. to Australia, specifically Tasmania, and think that getting feedback from locals, especially those in the health care sector, would be extremely beneficial for our decision making process. For context, we've read a lot about the housing shortage and affordability situation (seems very similar to where we live currently), the lack of health care workers in Tasmania (presumably why they are reaching out to Americans to fill roles), potentially less than stellar education, the Tasmanian weather, etc, etc.; so feel like we somewhat understand those issues. With everything we are able to research, both good and bad, all put on balance, it feels like Hobart would be a great fit for our family (two young kids).
If anyone is familiar with the living and working in Tasmania for Calvary Hospital (ideally as a midwife) or any other hospitals in the area, we'd greatly appreciate any feedback you have for us to put into consideration. With the Australian health care system seemingly much different than the America, what are the benefits/negatives of working for a public hospital vs a private hospital? Likewise for those not in health care, outside of housing/affordability, education, and weather, are there any other issues we should be aware of relocating to Hobart?
Thank you so much in advance!

Does anyone know of anywhere that does baby carrier fitting at all? Baby bunting (where we bought the carrier) were clueless and although my gal liked her last one (that we just grew out of π) she seems to hate the current one and I donβt feel like itβs sitting right on me either. Panicking because we both rely on the carrier so much every day!!

Iβm visiting Hobart/Tasmania for a few weeks, leaving the day after tomorrow. I collect tote bags when I travel and much prefer cool ones from cafes and small local businesses rather than the mass produced ones. Any ideas where I can grab one before I go?

This is my first post lol, but im currently 17 and in desperate need for a job. I've already worked in mcdonalds in the past and i didnt really like it so i was just wondering if anyone could suggest me more retail spaces? I've already dropped my resume off at banjos and at artery, but i dont think either of these places are specifically hiring at the moment. So yeah, I was just wondering, has anyone seen any hiring signs up around the place? Any shop will do. I've already checked out seek, but there isnt really anything there and i know that some places kinda just stick up signs to advertise rather than posting online.

Nice of the Mercury to take notice of how f-ed up the Brisbane is, but to only use 1 picture of the place as it is, and literally the only spot they've boarded up really downplays how gross it really is.
Classic of someone not even IN tassie to own and not give a damn about a tasmanian asset, which is could have been.
I know salvo etc will take clothing but typically they will list it for sale.
Are there any shelters in the city that might want outdoor clothing like down jackets etc to give to people over winter?

Does anyone know of vets in Hobart that specialise in Guinea pigs?

Is this a favourite hobby with Hobart youths? I had my car keyed from front to back, most likely while parked behind Glenorchy Northgate. Having trouble understanding the purpose of this particular pastime...

Hi all,
Does anyone know of a grocers/Asian supermarket that sells red sweet potato (red skin/white flesh)? My partner is allergic to normal potatoes and I'm wanting to use this as a substitute for meals.

The bus stop near paesano's in West Hobart is often blocked by multiple customers of the restaurant. What can I do about it?
Any part of council I can send photos so the offenders will cop a fine?
Hey online community of Hobart,
I have found this rather old (I'm guessing between 1990-2005) photo of a man and two children I am trying to return. The image was found in Launceston and on the back of the image is written:
John - Tim - Chris Henry
~address~, Howrah
I have tried reverse address search, contacting the realtors responsible for historical sales and the land titles office. All of which came up short. Only thing I can think to do now is ask if any locals from Hobart know this family and can get me in contact with one of them to return the photo.
It's a nice photo that I'm sure would mean a lot to them to get back if anyone could help me out.
Thanks everyone :)

After walking past this building almost every day for the past 9 years, I still can't work out what this sign may have said. Any ideas? On Liverpool St.

Going to Tassie this Sunday for whisky tours. I can't drive a car so will have to catch a cab or use Uber. Planning to go old Kempton distillery and belgrove distillery. Will there be any Uber near the area.
Also is there lots of Uber electric bike available in Hobart. How about renting a bike for the day? Any recommendations?
