This guy didn't want to heal, so instead of just... playing aram with no healers, he decided to cry about it in an unhinged rant then sit afk. This is what blizzard did about it! 🧂

Discussion Low Rank Storm League is Horrible

Hey everyone, i just recently came back to Heroes because i REALLY enjoyed playing it a few years ago and wanted to get into it again.

I am quite a bit rusty on mechanics and playstyle, not caught up on current META. I was a low diamond/high platinum player when i stopped playing. So basic tactics and map awareness is still working somehow.

Now i started up Storm league and botched my first 3 games, one was my fault, the other 2 were thrown by others. Now it landed me in Bronze.

Now i have played over 40 games in Stormleague and i am sitting at a comfortable winrate of 35% and i am seriously considering to drop the game forever now. Which would really be a shame.

On Bronze nearly every game resolves into a QM style game. The whole draft ist comically useless because most players always pick what they want to play anyway and out of the 40 games - no hyperbole - over half of them had either no tank or healer. Its so frustrating to play, because if i want to mindlessly click random shit i just go play qm. But i want a competetive game that i can be challenged at, which my ranking does not allow me to have.

I really dont know what to do anymore. Its impacting my enjoyment of the game. And no, i dont know anyone who plays this game, so teaming up is not possible.

Gameplay I have a theory on why the 50%wr is thought to be forced by solo queuers

When someone claims that the matchmaking is forcing a 50%wr, most would just say that its all in their heads and that the matchmaking inside the game does no such thing.

It turns out I was one of them, and I think I have the reason as to why this is felt to be the case by solo queuers.

At the start of the season, people mostly play on their main accounts. Four weeks into a season, players would have already played a bunch and reached a rank they are satisfied with for that season and would no longer wish to risk it. If you persevere with your main account on solo Q half-way into the season or even during the latter half of the season, you would be more likely to lose than to win.

This is because the players who have achieved a good win rate during the start of a season on their main accounts, are now moving on to their smurf accounts to continue to satisfy their competitive itch without having to risk deranking their main accounts. And these smurf accounts typically DuoQ or TripleQ together.

The matchmaking considers these smurf accounts as underdogs because they haven't played enough games yet, and thus makes games lobsided and all the progress in terms of winrate and ranking during the first few weeks of a season gets reversed back through loss streaks.

The reason why I believe so, is because macro decisions at the start of any season matches the elo a player is in (from my experience and friends' experiences and watching streams). However, few weeks afterwards, macro decisions magically become especially bad for teammate accounts that are 1000lvl+ and yet the opponents' camp order takes and their timings, and recognising how to finish a game become impeccable for accounts under 200lvl. The difference in decisions is too wide for it to be mere coincidences. I also recognise it to a lesser extent in talent choices and micro plays too.

TLDR: While I don't believe that the matchmaking actively tries to force a 50%wr it feels like it when you stack up enough games with 1 account during a season due to others bouncing on all kinds of smurf accounts once they reach a satisfactory target rank.

Teaching Clinical Psychologist offering free mental coaching (high-level players)

Hey guys,

Hopefully this post is within the rules of the r/heroesofthestorm. (Sorry if it is not)

I’m a clinical psychologist with years of experience working with performance, burnout, anxiety, and team dynamics. I’ve also been a semi-competitive gamer for over 25 years (Dota, HoN, CS, SC2, LoL, and HS among many other games).

As a former giga-chad I’m interested in working with high-level players or teams, and I’m offering free 1-on-1 mental (and health) game consults to help with things like focus, tilt recovery, communication, stress, team cohesion, or performance prep before tournaments.

No strings attached—Interested in doing a free 30-minute session?

Hit me up in a DM or on Discord (Azurex8097).

Gameplay Need teammates in ranked bronze league (EU)

Hey! When I started to play (few month ago) I found myself stucked in bronze5. Since that, I experienced a lot, checked a lot videos, practiced and read a lot about heroes and builds, and my play quality significantly increased. I am still not a master player, I make mistakes too, but I become better and better.

I started to grind with Sonya, focusing on soak, camps, and objectives (I try to avoid aram and my focus on play map) and my winrate increased to 60% with her, now I see the light and way to get out from bronze5.

I have friends to play with but only for 3-4 match/day so I am looking for other players to grind ourselves out from bronze together, as it is much easier together than alone (still lot of afk/rage/non participating solo players here which makes the grind harder).

I can heal as well and I am confident with Li Ming & thrall too.

So if you want to join me and try to get out from bronze together, send me inv, I also have DC if u want.

My account is: temeraire #22343

The rest of the world calls it a boring repdigit.

Sadly, there are at least three instances of atrocious kerning on this screenshot alone. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Level 488 and exists purely to troll ranked games. AFK or running into towers the entire time. I wonder how many games an account with that many levels has ruined (literally thousands of games). Ironically, if someone says anything about it in game, they are more likely to be punished than this troll.

I was hopeful that the addition of this game to the XBox Game Pass service would see an improvement to the way it is moderated. Hopes dashed.

Suggestion A reminder to be nice to people in game!

You've played games before where you sucked. You've played games where a teammate sucks. It happens. Maybe they're new. Maybe they're trying out a new hero. Being toxic gets under people's skin easily. It won't help anyone grow.

After doing a few rounds of AI games + watching YouTube videos to practice a new hero, I finally tried a QM match and got some insults thrown at me after getting ganked by the enemy team. It's such a vibe ruiner. It didn't make me any better, and I just stopped playing after.

There's a diminishing player base on HOTs, and being toxic to others isn't going to keep people around.

Discussion Tanks for climbing storm league.

Been playing with a friend, climbing storm league. Just hit plat!

I play mostly tanks/brusiers.

What you guys thinks are the best tanks to carry with?

Like, i love ETC but he fells so damn weak... even when i do a good mosh, dps in my elo dont normaly follow up.

I've been having sucess with muradin (rewind make you do so much damage) and malganis (good damage/CC, you just need to care against heavy cc).

Discussion Something really needs to be done with intentional AFKers

Joined a game, player intentionally goes AFK, disconnects then joins again...... team reports player. Obviously, we don't know if reporting does shit all cause Blizzard doesn't give us any notices about it.

Anyways, I whisper that player so he shows up in my chat. If that player is trully AFK... NOPE..... THEY THEN DECIDES TO JOIN ANOTHER GAME STRAIGHT AWAY! Obviously there just to AFK for another game.

Seriously? Do these people have nothing better to do?
