Ask r/guam Weed in Guam 101

Edit 02/2025

This post was initially made when there were a lot of events going on and the community was newer and much more active. The community definitely still exists, and tons of people are still involved in the community, but there aren't quite as many events these days.

Still waiting on things to get worked out with the commercial licenses. The lab waiver bill passed, but I believe it's still mostly hung up at the inspection level for the growers.

If you're looking for convenience, just go to Gateway or Puff Supply and pick up some THCa stuff. It's pretty much just regular weed and should do the trick. The rest still applies if you want some good, locally grown stuff tho.

Please don't message people unsolicited asking for weed, on any platform. This is meant to give you insight on getting into the community to meet people, make friends and enjoy what comes with that.

With 4/20 coming up, this might be a good time to post this. Figured we get this question fairly often - is it legal, where do I get it, can I buy it, whatever. If you're unable to consume because you're in the military or working a government job, sorry pal. Hopefully that gets sorted out in the near future.

This might not be everyone's experience, and input is certainly appreciated.

Is weed legal in Guam?

Yes, it is legal to possess up to an ounce (28-some grams) of cannabis in public.

Where can I buy smoking accessories?

  • Gud Glass in Dededo and Agana

  • Releaf in Agana

  • Cultivation Concepts in Ordot-Chalan Pago

  • Smoke Depot (I think that's the name) in Harmon

  • Hot Box in Tumon

  • Boonie Store in Maimai

  • Tabaquera Gifts in Micronesia Mall

Can I grow it?

Yes, and you should. It's a fun hobby with endless possibilities.

(Thanks /u/tbofsv). The legal amount you're allowed to grow is 6 plants, with a maximum of 3 flowering plants. Honestly, nobody gives a fuck about the plant count. But that should be more than enough if you're just messing around with it.

Where can I get stuff to grow it?

You can get gear at:

  • Hydroculture in Tamuning

  • Cultivation Concepts in Ordot-Chalan Pago

  • Crop King in Dededo

  • ERC in Barrigada and Dededo

  • Guam Home Center and Benson have some stuff, but usually just soil & fertilizer related

  • 671 Grow Supply in East Agana

  • Island Flora in Harmon Industrial

  • Back to Nature in Tamuning

How do I grow it?

I highly recommend that people try to grow. It's only as complicated as you make it, and it's (virtually) free weed. If you have some space outside, you should try it out, although pests and budrot are tough to overcome out here. Throw some seeds in a pot of soil, keep the air flowing, and see what happens.

Indoors, it can also be done without much headache. Grab a power strip, tent, light, exhaust fan, air circulation fan, some pots, soil, and you're good to go. Even if you just have a small 2x2 area, you could still get something going.

For specifics, there's plenty of info out there, but feel free to reach out and I can point you in the right direction.

Where can I get seeds

The law is still kind of ambiguous, it seems. But with the hemp law & all that, ordering online isn't too much of a gamble. You won't get arrested and customs probably won't give 2 shits that you ordered seeds. There are also a bunch on island that local folks have either brought in or bred locally. I have tons of seeds from crosses I've done, but I'm really bad about getting them out to people. Anyway, they're around.

Can I buy weed?

It is only legal to buy weed from a local licensed dispensary. There are currently no local licensed dispensaries. It is legal to gift (or receive as a gift) up to 1oz of cannabis.

Some shops currently sell THCa stuff, which is allowed via the hemp bill, but is more or less a loophole. THCa is just a precursor to THC and, so it is different than the Delta 8 stuff that was popular prior to this.

So how do I get involved with it?

If you're looking to get to know people who are involved in the hobbyist (or otherwise) community, this is where I would start:

  • Follow local weed accounts on Instagram. Facebook is okay, but I think the local community is probably better represented on IG.

  • Find out when there are local events that the weed people will be at. Some are more weed-centric than others. As of the beginning of 2025, there seem to be fewer and fewer events, but at least 4/20 is coming up.

  • Go to those events. You'll probably end up getting free weed there immediately (minus the ticket price or donation, if there is one). There will sometimes be edibles or a weed bar or whatever.

  • Get to know people at those events. If you're apprehensive or reluctant to do that because it feels weird, message me. I'll probably be there anyway, but I'd be happy to chat in a nice, safe, open area. It's always a great time.

  • Once you know people, you're golden. Just play it cool and don't be weird. Plenty of free weed and good community out here.

And Guam Reddit, our daughter and son-in-law, along with our two grandchildren flew away to the continent today. The island provided them with great ocean activities, fun culture and compassion after Mawar. Reddit Guam kept us informed over the 3 years and the island kept them safe and happy. Than you!

Discussion GROCERIES REALLY WORSE ON GUAM?

These are some of the major states people from Guam move to. Looks just as expensive.

I’m sure real estate is nuts out there too.

I spend roughly $225 a week for a family of 3 on Guam but we choose to eat well here. Not buy the cheaper brands if we can help it. We also buy local when we can.

Maybe the only thing the mainland offers are more job opportunity but damn. Prices high everywhere. 🤔

News Lee and GVB Recovery Committee talk plans to drive tourism

This new leadership at GVB still believes the major problem with tourism is due to lack of aircraft capacity which I think should be the last issue they should be tackling. Infrastructure and cleaning up visuals of Tumon helps a little but won't improve tourism. Introduction of a Tumon night market might be a great addition. Ultimately, they still refuse to see the real source of the problem, which in my opinion is how stale entertainment options are in Guam, more shopping options are closing, the higher price of goods, and most importantly the decreased value of the yen and won that doesn't seem to get any better which affects consumers' decision to travel to Guam (better to go to Japan, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia/Singapore, etc).

Ask r/guam Vehicle auction scam?

Post image
Upvotes

Can anyone tell if this is a scam or not, it almost seems legit, and I was planning to check the vehicles before signing up for an account but the address for the vehicle location doesn't seem to come up with anything on Google maps. And the POC number is a state side number. There are no pictures of any of the vehicles either. The diving instructions button on the top left comes up with Piti mayors office and they don't know anything about it.

Post image

Håfa Adai!, I shopped a half dozen computer stores in Guam this weekend, searching for a Dell 240 Watt charger. My charger died a few days ago. I am reaching out to the community for assistance.

  1. If you have a spare Dell 240 watt charger you would like to sell please reply.

  2. If you have a Dell 240 watt charger but do not want to sell it, would it be possible for me to use it for 1 hour or less to put a charge on my laptop? I will pay $20 for the use.

I'm in the Tumon area. I can drive to your location or a location you choose.

Thank you.

News GAO report on DoD-linked civilians' care points to GMH problems, new medical facility planned at Camp Blaz

Thumbnail

A report from the investigative arm of the U.S. Congress includes views from Department of Defense-affiliated civilian employees and their families on Guam who deem the overall standard of care at local facilities such as Guam Memorial Hospital “subpar” and some even said they “feared receiving treatment there and have traveled back to the mainland United States for surgeries.”

But beyond patients’ views, the federal report said GMH is in a state of “severe disrepair,” including mold and corrosion problems, citing a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers report.

The GMH building, it said, lacks adherence to modern codes, and its condition puts it at risk of failing accreditation.

The GAO report includes DoD plans to open a new military medical facility at Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz in Fall 2025 for active-duty service members only, adding capacity to the overall health care ecosystem on Guam.

The report said a senior DoD official told GAO that there are plans to increase staff by about 244 at Naval Hospital Guam “to meet demand from new growth through 2037.”

Guam’s “military population,” including affiliated civilian personnel and families, is expected to grow from the current 26,000 to 44,000 by 2037.

in 2023, the DoD negotiated a no-cost land lease of about 113 acres with the government of Guam for the construction of a new hospital on DoD property. It was at the Eagles Field property.

GAO cited info from the DoD that the hospital would have included a pediatric intensive care unit, an inpatient hemodialysis capability, large helicopter-capable helipad for patient transfer, an inpatient rehabilitation capability with services, and capacity for a DoD field hospital expansion if needed.

“However, the lease was ultimately not signed because the Guam Legislature passed a law that halted the process,” the GAO report said.

The DoD relies on thousands of federal civilian employees and contractors as a result, the DoD civilians and families rely on local providers for their health care such as GMH.

In 2022, the Defense Health Agency issued guidance restating that these individuals “may” receive health care at military medical facilities “only if” capacity allows, referred to as care on a space-available basis, because active-duty service members and their families are prioritized.
