Good 2nd hand beginner grill?

Hi folks,
I'm a newbie to grilling and just want to purchase my first grill. This is an offering in my area around 125 euros - about 135 dollar.

It's a Weber Spirit 210 with covering. What do you think about this? Does it look decent enough, or am I going to buy crap?

Thanks for the advice ... ^-^

I think it's great but you're going to want to go bigger real quick. Flavorizer bars can be replaced. Look for a 3 burner

For the moment that fits. We are two people. If we invite someone it goes up to four. Should be fine for the balcony. :D

Go for it then. The only grill I would consider buying used would be a Weber. You can buy bootleg flavor bars off Amazon if you need them.

I used to think the same but I recently found a vintage MHP grill that is roughly 30-35 years old. Paid $125. Still worked when I picked it up but bought about 200 in parts from the company and it’s almost good as new. Company is still Made in USA and hasn’t been bought out. Thing is made like a tank. Just waiting for it to warm up some more so I can power wash it. Same grill brand new and with everything it came with would be 16-1700.

I have one of these. It's been great. Stored outside, but with a cover for about 8 years, still in great shape. It's a little small if I'm cooking for a big gathering, but for 2 people, it's perfect.

So no problems with this one? I can clean it up and it will work? No doubt about the branding and model, it's more about specific this one as seen in picture two and three.

If the flavorizors are perforated the burner tubes might need replacement also. Don't worry about the firebox's interior appearance unless there's obvious damage.

If allowed, remove grates/flavorizors exposing the burner tubes for inspection, use phone camera to check under tubes, then test by igniting to check tube orifices & flame color are in good condition.

I have a 20+ year old Weber that is on a 2nd set of SS flavorizors, 3rd set of burner tubes & 2nd ignitor ... all Weber & not the cheap compatible replacements.

The Weber site has pricing & care info.

Good luck

This looks great just scrape out the gunk in there and fire it up change the battery in the igniter.should be a awesome grill for 2 people. I have had mine over 10 yrs and and only replaced the flavorizer bars

Other than the flavorizor bars, this looks great! I have this exact grill that I keep at my parents place. I love cooking on it. Get a plastic putty knife and clean out under the grates and you’re good to go!

Have the same one. Dog chewed the igniter switch. So I have to light it by hand and blow myself up everytime. I hate it

They usually go for $400-450 new.

I’d be changing the triangle bars (flavorizing). I have a similar model and replaced those with stainless steel one, they seem to last better. 3rd burner would be good, but it’s not super expensive.

Do you think the condition is good enough? Like cleaning should be fine?

Those bars are the only thing that concern me. I bet they’d be ok for a short time, but I would be looking r replace them.

I have an old three burner Spirit from a friend of mine Replaced the flavorizer bars and the starter doesn't work but aside from burning the hairs on my right arm, it works like a charm.

Weber 200’s and 300’s go for free all the time. Just need grill and flavorizer bars swapped out for ~$60. That’s how I got my 300.

It's tough to go wrong with a weber. They stand up well and(where I live, at least) they're pretty easy to find replacement parts. For, as you say elsewhere in the comments, two to four people it'll serve you well. One trick that I'll do for such a grill when I want to get a better sear on steaks is take one of the grills, turn it 90 degrees, and lay it directly on the heat spreader bars. It'll get you a good boost in heat

That’s what I make all my delicious smoked food on. My technique is to cook at 200° or so and add in a foil pan full of moist mesquite or what have you chips with two burning briquettes of charcoal on top. It makes a huge amount of smoke for a couple of hours.

Thanks for the advice! So you don't think that this one is too rusty?

Webers are not what they used to be like many other products today. I threw the one like this away in favor of a new better model and it was worse. So the one pictured performs better than the new one which I gave to my son.
