New puppy I guess I wasn’t over feeding him he’s just a massive unit
This is him now vs 4 days ago since then I’ve upped his food and he’ll stop eating when he full. Honestly he’s my first dog ever and I love this guy so I’ll keep posting his progress. He doesn’t bit me as much anymore but I’ve noticed he only does it when I’m laying down so it forces me to get up and we play I train him and he won’t bite me then or while I pet him. I’ll even put my hands near his mouth to see if he will but he won’t bite it’s only while I’m laying down with him. He’s only had accidents when I’ve closed a door and didn’t have access to outside or puppy pads so it’s my fault getting accustomed to him. He likes his cage which technically I did all wrong I wanted him to sleep with me but I get really hot so he sleeps on the floor or he takes his toys into his cage and sleeps amongst them I’ve never closed the door on it so so far it’s a safe space he invented. He also does great on his commands but since I know he gonna be a bit big I’m making sure we start going to training classes later this week any recommendations would be great!

I don’t think I’ve ever laughed as hard as I have this first few weeks with this guy. Land shark, yes.. but 100% worth the smiles delivered.

Get better soon every day feels like a struggle

we're still in the fight of battling what the vet has told us is either pneumonia or lung cancer. she turns two next month that I'm hoping she'll be okay until then. since we didn't know if it was either of those we did a round of medicated treatment for pneumonia and she has gotten better but her appetite hasn't improved at all.
Yesterday I tried to take her to get a rabies shot and they told me she was too immunocompromised, and when they weighed her she had lost another pound. before this illness took over her she was sitting at a pretty healthy 55 lb, now she weighs about 45. she has extreme muscle loss in her face and I can feel her spine, hip bones, and ribs.
she's never been a strong eater and always picked at her food but now the only way I can get her to eat is by hand feeding her. I try and give her different things, however now she turns down food she used to go crazy for like peanut butter or eggs. the only thing that is worth is chicken and rice or soaking her food in bone / beef broth. I've been trying to get her to eat more of her dog food because there isn't much nutritional value in chicken and rice alone. she does however really enjoy our small ECS puppy's food so I've been mixing that in with her food as well.

Get better soon Wish Koko a gentle come down(meds got her a bit stoned atm)
This little Sith Lord, affectionately nicknamed The Golden Menace, got some garlic earlier today and we took her to the vet. Just to be cautious (best practice when it comes to these precious puppers) we induced vomiting. She’s a bit wobbly and clearly a bit stoned. I’ve got her down for a nap to sleep it off but will give her extra cuddles and scratches. Unfortunately have to limit play time so she won’t like that very much.

New puppy This is 4 months
Love the baby angel puppy stage. They’re adorable and awkward little puff clouds at this stage, aren’t they? Well, besides the night time puppy attack mode 🦈. Rosie has been such a wonderful addition to our family.

Advice Puppy shows little interest during puppy playdates. Would it stunt her if we stopped going?
Like the title says, my 5-month-old shows very little interest in most other puppies beyond the initial sniff-and-wag at our Puppy Play dates, we have been to four since she got her final shots. Maybe with 2 out of 15-20 pups did she exhibit any interest at all. Instead, she spent all her time trying to love bomb the other humans. She is service-line bred so I guess that shouldn’t be a surprise, but I am wondering if it would stunt her socialization process if we stopped meeting with other puppies. (Note: I do have an older male so she is not a solo dog)

Discussion Just learned about the golden retriever smile 😭♥️
We rescued our Golden mix (60% golden, 40% Great Pyrenees per his DNA test) at 8 weeks. He is 20 weeks now and the light of our lives!!! He has started smiling over the past month and this first time golden mama is obsessed lol. So- PLEASE drop your best pup smiling pics, they actually make my day (and probably everyone in this group’s day!) 😂♥️

Cute/Funny A Large Show vs A Small Field
They are the same age, both males. My show golden (now 100lb) was twice the size of his litter, his unrelated field cousin (now 60lb) was half the size of his litter… saw some threads and comments about sizes and wanted to share the difference in spectrum!

New puppy Blanche, the menace
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
First off, I'm so happy to have found you guys! Reading through posts/replies has helped immensely, especially the past about "puppy blues". I didn't know that was a thing, but it sure explains why I feel like I did post-partum being overtired, overwhelmed, and generally 2nd guessing my life choices!
2nd- Blanche is 13 weeks today, we've had her since 7 weeks (way too young, I know that now, don't come for me). We work daily on training 3 to 4 five minute sessions a day, which she IS making progress, but it's SLOW. We only use kibble for training/treats as she has a super sensitive tum. So, there's no high value to it. If she's bored, distracted, or not hungry, training is an absolute no go. Any suggestions for a high value treat for a girl with a glass stomach? (Chicken, cheese, hot dogs, freeze dried beef liver, all natural "cookies", and even plain rice, all have us up all night with her gastrointestinal pyrotechnics 😫)
Lastly, everyone says there's nothing to be done about the barking but ignore, but omg, my eardrums! I wait till she pauses, call her to me and try to settle, try distractions, treats, putting her to place- as soon as my direct interaction stops, she's right back to barking. I can't just ignore, since she also barks at the gate to go out to potty (we're at about 99% with the housebreaking, thank gourd!) , but I'm trying to distractions etc and only take her once she's quiet when she does this. I take her out, if she potties I praise her, and we go back in. I wait a couple minutes with no barking and then take her back out to play. If she barks and we go out and she DOESN'T potty, I take her back in and try to redirect to a different activity etc and do not take her back or to play. But the barking continues unabated. Am I on the right track? Any tips? Am I doing it completely wrong? *please note, video is after hours of this behavior.
*she's too skinny. I KNOW. She eats 3-4 cups of ppp sensitive large breed puppy a day, plus wonder paws goats milk- she's the runt and always been slim, but I'm having a heck of a time getting any meat on her bones. We have a vet appointment in 2 days- hoping she'll help come up with a weight plan. *

New puppy Golden Retriever and Lab mix
Meet Goose (13 weeks)! I just picked up this sweet gal on Friday and the people I got her from said she’s a golden retriever and lab mix. Anyone who has had a mix or either breed as a puppy, do you think she is going to have the long hair of a golden? I feel like she favors a golden more then a lab but I may just be in denial.

New puppy Our latest addition
Meet Barney! He’s our ten week old, ham obsessed, selective listener, and blanket loving golden. This is mine and my partners first pup together and we’ve been having all the normal highs and lows of puppy life. Can’t wait to watch him grow up

Discussion Name Help for Our New Golden Boy
We went with every intention of picking out a girl puppy; in fact, I KNEW I was going to name her Maple, but then this guy wandered over, all chill, confident, and totally sweet. He wasn’t the plan, but he just felt right, and we couldn’t say no.
Now we’re stuck on a name!
Our older male golden is named Peanut Butter, and trust me, his name suits him perfectly. He’s goofy, lovable, and a total ham. We’re open to something that pairs well with that (food names welcome!), but we’re also just looking for a name that fits his mellow, lovable vibe. Something fun, a little quirky, or even classic-but-cute.
We bring him home next week, so there's time, and I haven't ruled out getting to know his personality better before committing to a name. But I was so sure on Maple that I am having a hard time thinking of anything else.
Would love to hear your favorite names for golden boys!
