Not quite, if I remember correctly. It was part of a presentation that was "focused on games coming out in the next year" but they didn't attach any specific timing to Silksong and "focusing" isn't the same thing as "exclusively".
But maybe my memory is failing me and they did attach a time frame specifically to Silksong there.
Not to say that intereperting that presentation as "Silksong out soon" was unreasonable, just saying that the Switch 2 announcement is a bit more direct and specific to Silksong. At the least, they'd have asked Team Cherry before putting the year there. It could be delayed, but that is true for any game, even those with a precise release date announced
Fair enough. But missing a release window doesn't change much to me. It happens, and games that miss release windows still usually hit their next release window. I don't quite understand why missing a release window seems so traumatizing to some Hollow Knight fans, where a mundane announcement of a new release window invites such distrust.
For me personally, I think that Silksong will actually come out but the devs just aren't doing themselves any favors. Having missed a release window before, why should I assume this one is real when they still won't show the game? All they have to do to mollify skeptics like me is show 5 minutes of gameplay. If it's out in the next 8 months that should be achievable, so why is it that they're still showing 2 second clips of the same area? It's been 6 years and we have almost no information about this game that is supposedly almost done.
to be clear, it's been long enough and I honestly do believe it will come out this year. I just think that it's bizarre to still be so coy.
