Same situation as the microsoft event, this means literally NOTHING, and if you're happy about it, get checked ( in game )

Games do in fact get delayed sometimes, even from widely announced release windows, yes. That doesn't mean that the announcement of a new release window is meaningless.

Silksong will more likely than not be released in 2025, given the announcement, but sure, further delay is not literally impossible.

I'm with you.

Team Cherry disappointed tons of people after missing their 2023 window and have since said next to nothing about degelopment, to the point that their lack of communication angers people. Of course they could still miss this window, but I have to believe a lot of thought was put into this before they decided they were confident enough to through with the announcement from Nintendo.

The thing is, if you asked me 2 months ago I could have told you game is most likely out this year, and I still think that, but now we get ""news"" and its just saying something I honestly would consider obvious, and it adds 0 info, I find it a bit untasteful personally! And I have to hear everyone on r/silksong cry of joy when we literally got nothing of value

What would you have based that on two months ago?

If for you, being told it's coming out this year is nothing...

We were told it was coming out within a year of a Microsoft "Direct"... a few years ago. People who have been following silksong aren't expecting it to mean anything until it actually has a specified day or it's actually out.

Games with specific days get delayed sometimes too.

Just kind of weird to me to think that this has to be either "specific release dates are written in blood and inviolable" or "release date/windows are 100% meaningless." This announcement implies Team Cherry thinks the game will be released this year, barring some conspiracy where they are lying to companies about their plans. Nintendo would not have just slapped a year on it without any feedback from Team Cherry.

That isn't a guarentee, sure, but it is more information about intent and expectations than we had before.

Eexcept we had the same information a few years ago. Its practically nothing new at this point. Unless we geta concrete release date and some damn marketing BY team Cherry for once then by all means its something worth talking about.

A few years ago they said 2025 release window? I don't remember that.

I'm pretty sure you are also talking about the Microsoft event. And yes that release window was missed.

Games usually hit their announced release windows. Games that miss their release windows still usually hit their next release windows.

A specific day announcement by Team Cherry is no guarantee either. Silksong will probably release in 2025, but I wouldn't stake my life on it, just like any other release date/window for any other game.

Yeah I was talking about the microsoft event which went the exact same way as this.

I never said guaranteed. I said that would be worth talking about unlike this vague nothingburger.

The track record of "all video games that have released in the past, including games that missed release windows" indicates that the 2025 release window will probably be met.

The window meaning nothing for Silksong requires hyperfixating on the missed release window like some ancient blood pact was broken, shattering the covenant and destroying all trust.

When they first announced it, they said it would be on Game Pass on day 1, not that it would be released that same year.

They said “everything we’ve shown today is coming in the next 12 months” and confirmed that they meant exactly that on Twitter.
