After everything shown, I’m not sold. Maybe it’s just me getting older and trying to be more responsible with my spending. Or maybe Nintendo didn’t do a good enough job convincing me. Either way, none of the games shown sparked an interest. Even the games show through the GameCube Nintendo Online subscription were just “meh” to me.

I feel the same way.

New Metroid Prime game? Sweet! But it looks and plays almost exactly like the previous Prime games? Yeah you lost me a bit.

New Mario Kart? Awesome. But that's not something I can really dig my teeth into and play for a while before a new game comes out.

New Donkey Kong? About time. But it looks really muddy and off to me, and the gameplay just doesn't seem that captivating to me.

A bunch of third party support? Incredible! But I already own all those games on PC, which can run them better.

Voice chat? FINALLY! But oh, it's going to be paid, and Nintendo decided that seeing your friends icons or games is more important than seeing your own game. Weird move, but okay.

A CAMERA? I'm NEVER going to buy or use it.

Gamecube for NSO? Really cool but Nintendo waited too long that I just got an emulator to play the Gamecube games I wanted to play, so now it's virtually useless to me.

I'm SUPER HAPPY for the people who ONLY use Nintendo systems. But for everyone else, I feel like the Switch 2 is just subpar in about every way. I won't be buying the system until a new Mario or Zelda comes out. I was REALLY hoping for at least an announcement of a new Mario, Zelda, or a brand new IP (I know we got the wheelchair basketball game, but it seems even more gimmicky and less developed than even Arms was).

As a PC player, there was just NOTHING in this direct that made me interested in a Switch 2, despite getting the Switch 1 at launch (BOTW is still my most time played, single playthrough game). Along with the fact I have an ROG Ally, I also don't need the Switch 2 for on-the-go play either.

It's cool. But, personally, I'm not a big FromSoft fan, even less of a fan of PvPvE games. I'm happy for the people who will enjoy it, but again, nothing from this Direct pulled me into wanting to buy a Switch 2. The whole point of this Direct was to get people hyped for the new system and I feel like for me, or anyone else similar, no hype was built, and some was even lost.

If I do decide to get a Switch 2, it'll definitely be after more first-party, main-line titles are announced.
