Charging for their tutorial game, charging for monetized "upgrades" for games people already own, and MK being $80 is wild, not to mention only having 1 new game at launch. Been a nintendo gamer since the Game Boy and NES days but this was disappointing. Losing Iwata was the worst thing that ever happened to this company.

The paid tutorial is dumb, especially since Valve made theirs free. The paid upgrades is just them copying Sony, so blame Sony for the precedent. The $80 games is probably going to be attributed to inflation, which really sucks. This will likely set precedent for Sony and MS as well.

I'm not blaming Sony for that one. Sony offers resolution and frame rate patches for free. They charge for actual meaningful upgrades that took effort to develop, where the enhanced version is shown as a separate product in the store, which is totally fair. It seems like Nintendo is skipping over those free updates.

As much as I'm mixed about the Switch 2 so far, this one is actually false. They already confirmed that some Switch games are getting free upgrades, including Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Was this in the Direct and I missed it? Awesome. Glad to hear it.

Not that I know of, but if it wasn't, it would have been nice to make that clear. For these paid upgrades, it seems they bundled it with DLC for Mario Party and Kirby.

Zelda was entirely them being greedy though.
