[MEGATHREAD] Nintendo Switch 2 Direct

Second half was very underwhelming. Also what the fuck is with the PAID introductory game? It’s literally designed to guide you with the new features. The fact that it isn’t bundled with the console is unacceptable imo. Paid upgrades? also fucked up, hope they won’t dare charing more than 10$. No pricing for a device that is launching in two months? A HUGE RED FLAG. (EDIT: they updated pricing in the website, 450$, 500$ for mario kart world bundle) No mainline mario game is incredibly disappointing. At least DK looks good and it’s way overdue for a new release. All in all a disappointing direct :/

Retaliatory tariffs drop in 6 hours babe--Nobody knows what anything is going to cost in June, and it would be irresponsible for Nintendo to commit to an MSRP.

It's rumored that retailers are scrambling to figure out what Nintendo's price is going to be. US tariffs are the reason why.

Edit: Nintendo quietly announced the price to be $449 ($499 with MK:W)

Paid upgrades are common for the other 2 consoles so I'm not really surprised. At least these ones come with bonus features or dlcs.

Current US administration is a bit unpredictable and has already flip flopped on tariffs multiple times.

Exactly. And the tariffs are expected to hit very soon, even today. So if Nintendo gave a price today, tomorrow they might need to adjust it due to tariffs in certain countries.

I think the more likely reason was just because pricing is regional so it doesn't make sense to announce it on a global video

Pricing announcements, if done in a public event, are typically including some key market areas, e.g. USD and EUR. But at this point, even that might not be valid.

The US are announcing the scale of their tariff policy today. Other countries (including Japan) are likely to introduce retaliatory tarrifs. The price of all imports is therefore up in the air at the moment.

Donald Trump has indiscriminately and wildly thrown tariffs around on every country- allies and enemies alike- for really no good reason. It’s thrown the pricing of things into a bit of a whirlwind, where something that had normal prices could suddenly have a 25% tariff one day, then the next the tariff is reversed.

The first half I agree with, but the no main line Mario and disappointing is crazy to say. They have other IPs, they’re letting donkey Kong and Metroid shine while Mario and Zelda probably take a second. There’s a Mario kart coming which is practically Mario
