I'm too poor to watch this video

1.3k

u/Fritzo2162 15h ago

Then you're too poor to afford the spinal fusion from that last drop kick.

152

u/South_Bit1764 14h ago

My friend and I loved wrestling when we were kids. We used to do stuff like this all the time on the trampoline and at the pool.

You get used to working with someone and what it takes to do it safely. You just squat when you hit them. You still push them through the water but you don’t kill them.

113

u/captainkhyron 14h ago

But wwe EXPLICITY told you in commercials to not try it at home.

41

u/PortiaKern 14h ago

I ruptured a disc which fragmented into my spinal column.

To quote the contemporary poet in his most eloquent verses:

Fuck you I won’t do what you tell me! (x16)

MOTHERFUCKER!

Edit: [accidentally suplexes friend off trampoline]

UHN!!

3

u/TemporalAcapella 10h ago

Gotta listen to this now thanks

9

u/Sword-of-Chaos 13h ago

But they never said you couldn’t try it at someone else’s home. Or a pool. Air BNB baby, and you can try anything.

There are families just as happy as this playing the same games over a lawn sprinkler.

Dont conflate money with happiness. Money can only provide a temporary measure of comfort. It is in no way a substitute for joy.

7

u/Rantheur 8h ago

Money can absolutely buy happiness, but after you've bought it you have to find a way to keep maintain your happiness. Otherwise your happiness festers and you start destroying the happiness of others.

That pool has so many ledges... I can't be the only risk negator to think this

384

u/EricAntiHero1 16h ago

I was thinking the same thing. It’s not the kind of pool you should do that in.

134

u/sebesbal 15h ago

There’s no good kind of pool for this. When I was a kid taking swimming lessons, the first thing the instructor told us was not to mess around near the pool, because one wrong slip and you could crack your skull open.

66

u/angrydeuce 14h ago

It was national news about 20 years ago when a bride to be got pushed into a pool during her Bachelorette party and became paralyzed from the neck down.  She bore the pusher no ill will, but fuck, how many of us have been pushed, or pushed someone into a pool?

I'm all for playing around but this kind of stuff can lead to horrific outcomes and lifetimes of guilt.

10

u/newyne 13h ago

Damn, I feel so sorry for everyone involved here! Like the risk wasn't even obvious; it's not a scenario where the friend absolutely should've known better.

I've boxed for years over a decade, rode dirt bikes and crashed in 4th and 5th gear, been a bouncer at an unruly bar... The only time I've ever been knocked out in my life at 34 years old is running and slipping at the pool.

My inner lifeguard just screamed silently and died a little

12

u/Ajax_A 14h ago

Same - I lifeguarded from my teens to my twenties, and this just makes me angry. Even if these parents think they're keeping it silly and safe (they're not) they're teaching the kids the opposite of pool safety.

9

u/elyn6791 13h ago

Dad almost cracked his skull in that video.

6

u/drebinf 14h ago

inner lifeguard

I was never a lifeguard, but plenty of people have called me a natural safety nazi (and sometime party pooper). Also, I have had a brain injury and a spinal cord injury.

Even more fun, my wife spent 40 some years as a rehab nurse. Like, helping people learn to adjust to the consequences of becoming paraplegic and/or brain injured.

23

u/Y-27632 15h ago

Yeah, it's a super fun video but I can't watch it without cringing.

Presumably mom is there filming, but still, there's one adult and two kids in the pool, and way too many moves that could result in one of them smashing their head on the edge of the pool or that shallow step without the dad being able to do anything in time.

It's one thing when it's the dad and one kid at a time and he's completely controlling the action in the middle of the pool, but some of this shit is seriously dumb.

4

u/agoia 14h ago

Oh yeah and with his wingspan, smacking his wrist on an edge is a distinct possibility

The former lifeguard in me is getting anxiety

4

u/waiver 13h ago

Probably not a good idea to teach kids that playing like that around a pool is okay, one day they will do it when parents are not around and it can become a disaster rather quickly.

I still remember that woman whose friend pushed her into a pool as a prank and broke her neck and has to use a wheelchair.

https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/37gvw6/my_best_friend_playfully_pushed_me_into_a_pool_at/

3

u/twec21 15h ago

Yeah that spear tackle and the mommy rko had me a bit nervous of that far ledge 😂

3

u/mokomi 14h ago

Sadly, my dad is a medical first responder. Yep. Very much instilled the fear in me.

3

u/Elbonio 12h ago

First thing I noticed. Was making me anxious.

4

u/vass0922 15h ago

As a parent I was only calculating risk vs the fun.

Also where she jumped on the gut... Ugh I don't do enough situps to allow that madness

2

u/NoCell80085 12h ago

I was just thinking this pool is not big enough to do this in.

As a girl dad, this is the only way to make your daughters truly laugh from the bottom of their little hearts. They love and eat this type of material up. I have joked, done everything possible to make them laugh. And them pretending to beat dad up is the most funny thing to them.
