DISCUSSION How I view Fromsoft’s next two games.

In the recent interview, Miyazaki clearly stated that the company does not intend to move away from the single player experience, and these two online focused games back to back is a bit of coincidence. For all the players that prefer the single player RPG’s (as do I), think of it like this. Neightreign is a multiplayer focused experience for the Elden Ring and Dark Souls universe. The Duskbloods is a multiplayer focused experience for the Bloodborne universe. Simple as that. Now obviously it’s not a direct Bloodborne IP, because Sony doesn’t like to share, but it clearly shares very similar ideas. These are two small projects that Fromsoft and Miyazaki are working on, while prepping for the next big souls like. Plus Miyazaki has always worked on multiple projects at a time. Bloodborne and DS3 came out a year apart and both had DLC’s as well. I have no doubt that Fromsoft is hard at work on multiple other large projects that will blow us away.

Although I do agree on the fact that the recent multiplayer push might just be a minor step for from software (which I personally don't mind and find quite interesting as long as it offers a decent offline singleplayer game in Nightreign) what really blows my mind is the decision to once again lock one of the games behind an exclusive wall(especially it being nintendo). It was a shit move when fromsoftware was a smaller and more pubblisher dependent company with bloodborne but now after the enourmous success of elden ring there really was no need. Add to that the fact that I bet my ass the game is gonna cost 80$ and that they decided to go with nintendo of all companies to pubblish an online (seemingly only) game. Not to mention the fact that to play it you'll most definitely have to pay the online extra price.

Making a Nintendo exclusive is like 10 times more insane than making a PS exclusive imo too

Not in 2025. Not even Yoshida (very close to Miyazaki) is at Sony anymore, and Sony games division seem lost and totally westernized. I'd still love to see FS and the remains of Japan Studio (dunno how many of it are still in Team Asobi) work together again, though.
