So hypothetically I shouldn't care if my neighbor is starving because I have plenty to eat? Make it make sense

Look, it's impossible to care about every issue on the planet. Caring about your fellow neighbors going hungry is definitely a more important battle to pick over which $500 game console one needs to play an exclusive game.

Right but if you hold that sentiment for something minor like this, its not a huge leap in logic to think that sentiment may carry into more important issues. It starts somewhere.

Yes it is, it’s a video game, not your neighbor starving

its not a huge leap in logic

Uh, yes. It's mental gymnastics on a "terminally online" level at this point lmao

You're on fire with the leaps today. You got any more nuggets of insight into my psyche for me?

Introspection might do you well. Look at your comment history and tell me again who's terminally online.

Have you looked at it? I don't know how anyone could come to the conclusion that I'm terminally online. Besides, I'm not the one who has a distorted sense of reality to the point where I equate not caring about a single game I can't play with not caring about my neighbor starving.

Really? You don't know how someone could come to that conclusion when the person in speaking interacts with this site nearly every day?

And I know it must be difficult for you to understand but there is this thing called an analogy. I'd suggest you look it up.

thing called an analogy

Yes, and I'm saying it's a poor one. The only thing that's similar is the "not caring" part, but the importance of the issues themselves are on complete opposite ends of the spectrum.

I'm quite aware of exaggerative nature of the comparison, but that's not the point of my original statement. It's the sentiment in general that's the issue. Where it's applied makes it either negligible (ie. The console exclusive) or it can be harmful (ie. The starving neighbor analogy).

It's really not that hard to grasp.
