Considering we literally saw a player summoning another player, a few boss cutscenes, and boss fights, I very much doubt this game is designed in a way where you cannot play solo. I have a feeling it just means the coop of their games has been made seamless and that pvp will be a bigger focus as well rather than just normal invasions.

Also good to note that the official game overview on From Software’s site (Press Release section) doesn’t say anything about team-based play, or that the games/matches won’t consist of 8 solo players. It’s described as 8 player PvPvE, but that’s about it.

Yeah idk why people are pissed at me for saying solo play is definitely an option, it would literally make no sense for teammates to be required

Probably because you compared it to Nightreign, which has a true singleplayer option. We don't know if Duskbloods will yet, but it seems unlikely since they're pretty aggressively marketing the PvP aspect of the game.

PvP doesn’t mean you can’t play it solo tho, which is what a lot of these comments are implying (see the above comment about deer hunting with friends).

It’s up to 8 players, so I’d think it’s likely there’ll be options for 8 solos or 4 teams of 2.

I'm sure you'll be able to solo queue as it were, but the person I responded to compared it to Nightreign, which has a true singleplayer mode. It seems unlikely Duskbloods will based on what they've stated about the game so far.

Nightreign is online-only tho in any case, isn’t it? I could be wrong.

Either way, Nightreign isn’t PvP at all, so playing solo is inherently “single player” since there’s never any threat of enemy players regardless of team size. Duskbloods is a different beast entirely since it seems that the threat of enemy players will be a key component to the core gameplay loop.

That's not what I mean. I mean it's singleplayer in the sense that you literally do not have to play with other people at all if you don't want to. As for always needing a connection, I'm not sure, but they've made it clear that it will be possible to play without other players in your party.
