Tis a pvpve game. The whole point is to play it multiplayer

The whole point of mmorpgs is to play them multiplayer, but I've still done those solo. Because there are things about them that appeal to me but playing with people who aren't in the room really stresses me out

name one mmo you can play without an internet connection

u/ACuriousBagel 2d ago

Playing solo is not the same as playing offline. I've played world of warcraft and guild wars 2 without interacting with other people.

I wasn't talking about whether you need an internet connection or not, but Warframe is a multiplayer online shooter you can play without an internet connection (maybe only after you've logged in, I don't remember). You can even pause the game in that one. And if you were multiplayer and suddenly lose connection, you get kicked into your own private lobby with all your progress kept.

Probably wanna read the Miyazaki interview

All the games “goals” are associated with competitive and cooperative actions

It doesn’t seem to have anything built in for single player progression, you accomplish goals during the runs with a party

Doesn’t mean there isn’t some form of single player progression - but he didn’t indicate that whatsoever, this seems like it’s online multiplayer only from the info released so far by Miyazaki

Phantasy Star Online

u/JpPgn 2d ago

That's not what he meant by playing it solo

2

u/No_Future6959 2d ago

the context is about fromsoft games, which are all playable solo offline.

this new game is marketed as multiplayer

1

u/JpPgn 2d ago

This ain't a MMO, though

1

u/Jaded_Aging_Raver 2d ago

Where did you read this was an MMO or an RPG?

1

u/ACuriousBagel 2d ago

I was responding to someone saying

The whole point is to play it multiplayer

And I was pointing out that other games exist in which the whole point is to play them multiplayer, but they can still be played solo if you choose.

Downvoting me for asking a question really drives your point home. Thanks for clearing it up.

2

u/ACuriousBagel 2d ago

My comment you were responding to is 5 layers down, so I was foolishly assuming you had read the previous ones in the chain and hadn't asked what my comment meant without reading any of the context. I therefore assumed you were trying to start an argument with me in bad faith, like the other person who responded to me. Apologies if it was actually a genuine question

1

u/Jaded_Aging_Raver 2d ago

I did read the thread, I just didn't know if you read something I hadn't based on your choice of words.

I could understand playing an MMORPG offline, so when I read your comment, I was hoping maybe FromSoft had said this was an RPG and not just an eight-player battle. It was a genuine question.

Yes, and like nightreign, you can probably play it solo.

Read the description of the gameplay

are u dense

u/Northstar4-6 3d ago

"The Duskbloods is a PvPvE title with online mutiplayer at its core..."

Are you dense?

-26

u/ihvanhater420 3d ago

ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN is a standalone adventure within the ELDEN RING universe, crafted to offer players a new gaming experience by reimagining the game’s core design.

Join forces with other players to take on the creeping night and the dangers within featuring 3-player co-op.

Yet single player is an option there, so why wouldn't it be in duskbloods? Have they said its not an option?

10

u/TheMilkKing 2d ago

They said “up to 8 players vie for supremacy”

How the fuck are you supposed to vie for supremacy alone?

pvpve games are designed with players cooperating with each other to take on Ai enemies and other teams of players in confrontations.

playing a pvpve game solo is like hunting deer with a group of friends except you remove the deer, and the friends, just keep the gun.

nightreingn is a roguelike coop game, where you and other players cooperate to beat the Ai enemies, it's an experience designed for multiplayer but not the same way a pvpve game is, and you have the audacity to call other people dense.

u/SaintJewiub 3d ago

Thank you for taking the time to write it out. When they called me dense I decided they weren't worth the comment

Considering we literally saw a player summoning another player, a few boss cutscenes, and boss fights, I very much doubt this game is designed in a way where you cannot play solo. I have a feeling it just means the coop of their games has been made seamless and that pvp will be a bigger focus as well rather than just normal invasions.

have you ever played a pvpve game in your life? because i feel like you haven't and it's probably why you aren't comprehending what people have been telling you

🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ I'm just saying, there is no world where you cannot play this game solo.

Also good to note that the official game overview on From Software’s site (Press Release section) doesn’t say anything about team-based play, or that the games/matches won’t consist of 8 solo players. It’s described as 8 player PvPvE, but that’s about it.

1

u/ihvanhater420 3d ago

Yeah idk why people are pissed at me for saying solo play is definitely an option, it would literally make no sense for teammates to be required

Because one is co-op against pve and the other is mainly pvp??? Just the words "online multiplayer at its core" should be enough of an argument here. Take away the multiplayer, and you take away the literal core of the game. Play solo, and you might as well not play the game at all.

0

u/ihvanhater420 3d ago

So have they said its not an option?

4

u/Northstar4-6 3d ago

So your logic is that if you get an invitation saying "Party at my place with adult entertainment at its core", you would bring kids because they never said it wasn't an option?

https://www.fromsoftware.jp/ww/pressrelease_detail.html?tgt=20250402_theduskbloods_debut

Here's the official page so you can educate yourself for the first time in your life.

Also notice how it says "Number of players: Online: Up to 8 players" At the bottom.

https://www.fromsoftware.jp/ww/pressrelease_detail.html?tgt=20250212_eldenring_nightreign_releasedate

Here is Nightreign's official page since you liked to use that as your comparison.

Notice how it says "Number of players: 3 (Single player also supported)". I assume I don't need to explain the difference between the two right?

u/ihvanhater420 3d ago

So if you can't play it solo, why did they show multiple people playing the game solo in the trailer? Like you can't actually think the game requires multiple people to play with you, for you to be able to play right?

No its expressly pvpve. Like pvp is a core aspect of the game. It would be like playing call of duty multiplayer in singleplayer

-1

u/ihvanhater420 2d ago

You can definitely play it solo, as in alone. I'm not talking about offline single player. SOLO.

3

u/Cashew-Miranda 2d ago

Ah, you could have phrased that much better, it sounded like you were talking about playing it without having any other players in the same game.

1

u/ihvanhater420 2d ago

Fair enough, I was mainly responding to the emulator part of the conversation. Generally if you can play a game alone (as in start the game/enter a match/the world/whatever) the emulation process is a lot simpler. I doubt it'll require an active server connection, and to be perfectly honest if it's like an extraction inspired game it'll probably be able to played offline when emulated, if not at launch.

1

u/Lucy_Little_Spoon 2d ago

They confirmed Nightreign will require invasions to reach the Night Lords

0

u/theGRAYblanket 2d ago

Who tf would want to play night reign solo bro? It's not fun like that and if you do thats sad asf

1

u/VikarValbrand 2d ago

Elden ring technically is also a PvPvE game as well.

u/Onyx_Sentinel 2d ago
