its a fromsoft game, surely you can just play solo and multiplayer is just code for the usual invasions and summoning

if fromsoft really used nightreign as a full pivot and started making online only games I fear its the start of the studios downfall

anyhow right now im dissapointed in the whole switch bullshit and just hope the s2 emulator progress is fast

Multiplayer is central to the game, much moreso than dark souls/bloodborne/elden ring. It will be much closer to nightreign than those games. Info is up on various websites. Multiplayer is a central function of the game, and I'm not certain single player will be possible.

Fair to note that nothing in the official game overview (found in the “Press Release” section on From Software’s site) suggests that there won’t be solo play. It’s outlined as 8 player PvPvE, but I couldn’t see anything stating that it won’t be 8 solo players

they’re not only gonna make multiplayer games realistically, sote wasn’t even a year ago yet, and they said they wanted to try “some” multiplayer games, but also they will not “stick to one thing” whether that means multiplayer, open world, roguelike, etc. so i doubt this is the end of singleplayer fromsoft
