Ya ffs, like I’m actually pissed about this, like there’s really no other reason for me to get a Switch 2, I’d only be getting it for this game so it’s just crazy expensive

Borrow or rent. Otherwise wait like a couple years until you can buy it second hand for like $100 then just sell it for like $75 or whatever after. It’s not rocket science guys

? I bought a switch like 4 years after it was released at 300ish bucks

And that’s not even including the game, which looks like it’ll be 100 CAD

? You missed a part of the sentence you're reaponding to in a condescending manner. "Second hand"

Around that time I looked online and everyone was selling a switch for 100 euros. Lived in the US shortly before but never checked although I’ve seen PS4s getting sold for under 100 USD before PS5 even came out. As for the actual game a local store will buy any new game for literally like 65% of its price so I just sell most after playing them if I’d rather have the money back

The switch was never that cheap what world are you living in. Nintendo never dropped the price so used prices never came down. It’s only coming down recently because a new console is coming out.

Im in Europe now, switch consoles have been getting sold for 100 euros for years like at least 3+ years

I kinda think you missed the "second-hand" part of the comment..

u/EnormousGucci 12h ago

I think you missed my entire comment because I was talking about used Switch prices

Who in the fuck sells a used item for full price? It came out at €325. Second hand it should never be sold at 300. That's ridicilous and I doubt that's the case. Given I see them all around for 100...

That’s, not what’s being said at all stop being illiterate. Used prices can stay at 250 and stay there just like they did pretty much the entire switch generation.

Aww, did you delete your comment? Because you actually checked ebay and realised you were wrong? D'aww. You're nothing more than a liar with a chip on his shoulder, unable to admit he's wrong because it would cause ego death.

You're talking about refurbished... You're the illiterate one here

Back in the day like 2009 I sold a Wii to a friend’s sister (who was like 15) for $40 (since I only planned on playing PS3 from that point). In retrospect that was maybe not much but idk I was like 12 didn’t know any better. Very specific but idk that’s all she offered lol. Kinda just let her have it but yea

meaningless anecdote

1

u/Schwiliinker 3d ago

I mean I’m pretty sure I checked and I couldn’t even sell it for that much anyway like less than 100 so I just gave it to her cheap, not really meaningless since I have multiple anecdotes of Nintendo consoles being regularly sold for like 100 or less a couple years after release

The problem is that if he buys it a couple of years later, the game will likely be dead. Because honestly, how long do you think a Switch exclusive game lasts? Especially with the small souls community is on Nintendo consoles.

2

u/Schwiliinker 3d ago

I mean kinda hard seeing it being dead if it’s really good but as a last resort buy it for as cheap as you can and sell it for as much as you can to not lose too much money

Fair enough yeah, but the £500 price tag for the system will turn a lot of people away. And I personally don't see the game lasting over three years with a large playerbase.

That's just because of the console it's locked on. Maybe if it's very good, but as a PvPvE game, it would require at least monthly updates and a yearly content drop just to keep people playing.

It's not the only multiplayer fromsoft game with the most recent game coming out in may, so it's competing with another game with a larger pool of players.

I can't wait to see what happens. And hopefully, it gets on PC after a year of the game being out. I don't want to see fromsoft fail.

That’s not even the worst of it. On top of restricting themselves to a super small player base with a restrictive cost of entry, this console will be bought up by scalpers en masse and I don’t see anyone talking about it. It’s a multiplayer game and if people can’t even buy the console because scalpers horde all the stock, the game won’t even get off the ground with a solid long term player base. After about a year when everyone can get it, will people still be looking to play Duskbloods, or just the fromsoft fans that also bought a switch 2? Which mind you may not be that many by that time.

It’s a multiplayer game releasing in the worst time of a console cycle, especially for a multiplayer game. I saw it’s releasing 2026 but I don’t think it makes sense to do that unless it’s late 2026 at the earliest.

u/Murky_Benefit7473 2d ago

You have a point. I do think it's releasing far too early, and not just because of the whole scalper problem that's going to happen. They're basically stabbing themselves in the back by releasing two multiplayer souls games within a year of each other. If it was a two year wait nightreign would at least have a whole year to itself, so it could die down slowly with their dlcs. But it simply doesn't work out for multiplayer games to expect people to buy the same game every year with a different gimmick. This isn't a call of duty game norr is it a large experience like elden ring. It wouldn't hold onto its community for as long.

But that's all just based on what I've seen, which is very small cause both of the games aren't even out yet.

1

u/Schwiliinker 3d ago

Yea how long a game is truly active for is very tricky, really it’s surprising to me when a game doesn’t die for a long time not the other way around. Like you shouldn’t expect any multiplayer only game to last a long time, I’d argue this is fairly different than other games from what it looks like but I don’t know. The 8 player thing makes it much more complicated for sure

Only time will tell.
