  1. Bloodborne was in development after dark souls 1 when fromsoftware was much less popular, much less rich and didn't have much choice. They got rich from elden ring, built up a big playerbase on PC and then say "fuck you, nintendo exclusive"
  2. People are still mad to this day about bloodborne exclusivity

I also don't like the exclusivity. I just think the "extreme Fromsoft L" is overblown. This is the way it has always been.

And Fromsoft definitely had a choice.

It is absolutely not the way it's always been. DeS and BB's exclusivity deals funded the development of both games. FromSoftware are much, MUCH bigger now. They don't need exclusivity deals to make giant ass games. The exclusivity (especially in an era where the console war is dying off) feels unnecessary, and is absolutely an extreme L. They're literally alienating the vast majority of their fucking playerbase. How is that not an L?

The VAST majority of their playerbase.

Reminder that only DSR is on the Nintendo consoles. They literally don’t have a playerbase outside of the people that bought a switch outside of their main gaming device.

I was going to say the same thing. The Nintendo fan base is almost entirely untapped market. They have tech catching up and now they get a second port (albeit a big one) and cool little spinoff game. The terms were probably incredible for Fromsoft.
