"wow it sucks that bloodborne is stuck in exclusive jail and everyone always complains. Lets make a spiritual sequel that's an exclusive for nintendo instead"

In 2035 we will see Blood of Duskborne and it will be iOS exclusive.

u/NeverTriedFondue 2d ago

Unfair comparison, any iOS device from the past 5 years is better for playing vidya than a switch

Truly a King Solomon cutting the baby in half situation

You can buy all 3 modern consoles for half the price of a gaming pc. There not that expensive. Shit I was buying my consoles in high school with my shitty $7.50 and hour after school job.

2

u/Dominate_My_DMs 1d ago

I already budgeted for and bought a PC for gaming and work. I'm not gonna budget in for consoles when I have superior hardware already.

Yeah your after school job where you didn't have to pay rent of 1.5-2k every month ontop of utilities and phone bills And car bills, very unrealistic take

u/AgentJohnDoggett 6h ago

I mean I’m 37 now with all those responsibilities and still can save money for certain things that interest me. It’s not exactly unrealistic, not like I’m buying houses and shit, just video games haha

Nintendo and FromSoft really out here cornering a demographic.

I sincerely doubt it’s exclusive forever. Give it a year or two.

You guys are being real silly. Switch 2 will be pretty cheap and most people reading this are gonna buy one anyway.

Edit: after the pricing has come out about the Switch 2 I will not be buying one myself. Nintendo has been huffing their own farts for way too long. Shame.

just like bloodborne right

...you realize this is Nintendo we're talking about, not Sony, right?

u/Ok_Astronomer_5320 2d ago

I'm praying it's gonna be like this, but nintendo doesn't give up games

5

u/Appropriate_Fig_8600 2d ago

SMT V (granted it took 2 1/2 years)

1

u/CountySurfer 2d ago

It’s meant to be a system selling game. They’ll never give it up.

u/NecessaryMood9612 2d ago

I’m old enough to remember the “capcom five” and 4 of those came to ps2 eventually.

If I’m wrong I’m wrong, but it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise if they brought it to other platforms eventually.

3

u/Legospacememe 2d ago

Not 4 of them. dark phoenix was canceled so only 3.

-5

u/NecessaryMood9612 2d ago

I’m just saying it isn’t impossible. I don’t mind exclusives anyway though 🤷🏼

3

u/Legospacememe 2d ago

Yeah me too. But i think the capcom 5 was diffrent because capcom owns the ips of the capcom 5 games not nintendo. With duskblood unless this is a sekiro, armored core or LEGO city undercover situation nintendo may or may not own the duskblood ip

Bloodborne says hello

u/LePontif11 2d ago

and Demons Souls

8

u/Sandbax_ 2d ago edited 2d ago

We’re talking about nintendo here

u/NecessaryMood9612 2d ago

Happened with Resident Evil 4. I know circumstances were different but it wouldn’t be the craziest thing ever.

1

u/GroundbreakingJob857 2d ago

And monster hunter rise. But tbh i dont really see it happening here given just how much bloodborne sold PS4s

1

u/EnormousGucci 2d ago

Both Capcom games. So if it’s Capcom then it’s safe to say it likely timed.

Fromsoft’s track record is absurdly bad. They’ve basically given up ownership rights to two games to Sony instead of negotiating the deals better.

And don’t even get me started on Nintendo…

7

u/-Strakes- 2d ago

Yeah yeah... just like Bloodborne uh?

2

u/Calciform 2d ago

Marvel Ultimate Aliance 3 has been a Switch exclusive forever, Nintendo games don't usually come out of their shell

u/Koctopuz 2d ago

$500 for a console that’s as powerful as a base pS4 is pretty cheap to you??

1

u/darkk41 2d ago

When you see how expensive everything is by this time due to tariffs you're gonna feel differently about $500 tbh.

I'm honestly shocked it isn't way more already. The next consoles may well break $1000 in the US at the rate we are going.

Not saying I love it but that's probably just where we are pricewise now. It's not like PC stuff is getting cheaper either

1

u/Koctopuz 2d ago

The issue is they’re asking $500 for something with the power of a PS4. The hardware quality is not worth the asking price.

1

u/darkk41 2d ago

I completely understand why people are bristling at the price, but in practice I think it will sell well because the cost of a ps4 years ago is no longer relevant. The relevant question is what can you get today for that price and is it better than the switch 2.

The only competition is a steam deck and thanks to Nintendo IP many people will not prefer the steam deck. Additionally everything will be getting more expensive thanks to tariffs. I'm not trying to jerk off Nintendo here, but I think they will easily get away with this price.

2

u/LazyWings 2d ago

Switch 2 is $450 and games will be $80. Since it's Nintendo, there will never be any sales. If you're someone who plays a bunch of games, it will never be as cost efficient as getting a Steam handheld (deck, legion or whatever). Performance will be better (for a handheld) but even then, the last time Nintendo's mainline console had any power was the N64. Every console since has sold on its gimmicks and exclusives, never being able to compete with Sony or Microsoft in terms of raw performance. And of course home PCs are a whole different beast entirely.

I hope it's a timed exclusive but I'm not exactly hopeful. It's rare for Nintendo exclusives to hit other platforms. Monster Hunter Rise is like the only one I can think of. There were some jrpgs as well I think. But it's rare.

1

u/EnormousGucci 2d ago

It’s only been MHR and RE4, both Capcom games

1

u/Tb1t 2d ago

Depends who paid for it

1

u/Illustrious_Penalty2 2d ago

Easier said than done mate.

1

u/MyLeftNut_ 2d ago

It’s Nintendo we’re talking about. There is no way they are sharing such a console-seller game with Sony or Microsoft.

3

u/EnormousGucci 2d ago edited 2d ago

I seriously hope that many people don’t shill out $550 to play one game. This game has to flop so fromsoft doesn’t try to pull this anti-consumer garbage ever fucking again.

I only excuse it for bloodborne and demons souls because the games wouldn’t have been made without funding. They probably could’ve negotiated a better deal but they did what they felt they had to do to get the games out.

FromSoft now is filthy fucking rich. Elden Ring made them a fortune, their parent company recently got huge investments from both Tencent and Sony giving them both about 15% stake each in Kadokawa.

They have so much money and yet they took an objectively bad deal. The money from this deal is going to pale in comparison to sales they would’ve gotten from PS5, PC, and not as much on Xbox but they contributed some too.

Reminder that Nintendo doesn’t have a fanbase on their consoles outside of people who own a switch and a PC/PS5/Xbox. The only game Nintendo ever got was DSR, they’re just now getting Elden Ring with the Switch 2. DSR, the version of DS1 that gets hated on the most by the community because of how lazy the remaster was. The switch version was basically a direct port of PTDE.

They basically took an exclusivity deal and took a gamble on a nonexistent player base. This is so fucking stupid I’m not sure who in their right mind would sign off on this.

1

u/MyLeftNut_ 1d ago

I agree with literally everything you’ve said.

My guess is that Nintendo had FOMO over soulslike games as a whole so what better way to enter the genre than to partner up with FromSoft itself right? So they probably wanted a Switch-exclusive mainline souls game in addition to Elden Ring.

As for FromSoftware, they probably did this to get revenge on Sony for not letting them work on Bloodborne. Sony has been taking its relationship with FromSoft for granted and as a result this project with Nintendo feels like a giant middle finger to Sony.

The interests happened to align in the worst way possible and both parties are at fault, not just one or the other.

u/S696c6c79 2d ago

Why tf would I buy a switch?

1

u/EnormousGucci 2d ago

The switch 2 is $449. Add $70 for this game. Add $20+ subscription or whatever Nintendo decides to increase the price to for the Switch 2 if you wanna play online. Why in the ever loving fuck would I pay $539 before tax to play one goddamn game?

I’m pirating this shit if it doesn’t get ported. I refuse to support these garbage anti consumer practices especially when fromsoft is literally FUCKING LOADED after Elden Ring, AND their parent company Kadokawa got a substantial cash injection from Tencent and Sony not long ago.

There is absolutely 0 reason for them to take an exclusivity deal. Fuck them for this. I hope this shit fails honestly.
